Window Placement ?

I know that traditionaly window go in the doors but I'm leaning towards putting them in the sides instead. That way I can do the Velcro/screen thing on the doors for more ventilation as it gets real hot here in the south. Thoughts on that folks. AL G

Yes it is true that most of the windows are in the doors however there are some that are not. Would think it is personal preference. (sorry about the spelling). Mine are not in the doors!

I have 1 in the wall, and 1 in the door. Frank is right, it's a matter of personal preference.

I will have one in each off my doors and 1 on each wall plus one in the front, but mine is larger than most. I will have a 6x12 tear with a 3x6 slideout in the front. It will be tradtionale looking on the outside and modern on the inside. I will try too send you my plans.

If your concern is for ventillation, I would look at using a quiet whisper fan to exhaust the cabin area. Cooler outside air would be drawin through your window screens, regardless of their positioning.

This works very well in our tear, and it only takes a few minutes to exhaust the whole cabin. We are using a 12V/.6A, 5 inch fan to do the job using a electro-mechanical spring wound timer to control the fan which draws in air through the window screens and exhausts out side vents in the galley.

Maybe a thermostat could be rigged to automatically turn the fan on/off when needed.

It sounds like you have a pretty interesting trailer. Do you have any photos anywhere? Would love to see it. I have been seriously looking in to the possibility of some sort of slide-out.

We may just be on to something new here.
I already got a great idea from one of those Camp-Inn trailers. Molding in the tongue box and using it to expend the interior space of the trailer. What a great idea!
A teardrop that could expand either longer wider or taller would be great too.

The pop ur teardrop is not a "real" tear because of the kitchen in the front. I have seen this before and I do like it but I do want a real tear drop. My slide out will extend over my coupler, when out it will lock into place with a few small latches. In the design I finally picked out of all I have everything but a bathroom which I am working on. I am only 15 but I know about every mink and model of trailers on the market. This is the reason I like tear drops, they are all different in there own way! now It is posible to put three slides in a tear. You could also put a pop up top but it would have to have the thick plastic like a pop up camper, I myself dont like that. Now if you would like a hard pop up top you could do it but you would have to give up slide outs on the sides plus if you had a slide on the front you wouldnt be able to have a pop up top for the holl thing because the slide in has to come in( the roof could not come down in other words). Now what really makes my tears design different is that I am going to put a electric fire place in it so it will look good but be my heater in the winter. I think I might start professionaly drawing plans for people. If you guys want a differnt plan just tell me what you want in it, how big, slides, wheight range, and most inportantly COST!!!! I am going all out on mine because I am only building one for me but I will build as many as possible for other people. I do have my own shop so it would be easy.
