I'm brand new, have not started my build. Still collecting ideas and materials. I voted for the kinskill. I just think it looks better. I realize that I will loose some floor space by rounding off the front bottom so I'm going to make it 9' long. I would like a copy of your plans. When will you decide on what to draw up & when will you be finished?

Once I have a design in my mind that I feel is a good balance of simplicity and function, and aesthetics, then I'll draw it up. Andrew and I are toying with some ideas... we'll keep you posted. Once we have a design, it won't be long to cough up some directions/plans!!!

I voted for Kenskill, because the design simply looks a lot better. Usually I am a function before form sort of guy, but I guess it also probably has to do with the fact that at some point I would like to have a vintage car to pull it. Until then, it will still look good behind a modern car. The benroy just doesn't have that teardrop shape to it... to many straight edges.

How important are the galley walls for supporting lateral flex?
I was thinking about making them somehow removable so that it could double as a cargo hauler and camper. - Pull out the mattress and galley and fill it up with stuff to help a friend move, etc. Of course, this would not be towed behind the vintage car when full of weight

Howdy! Ny Name is Nick and a newbie! and poor! I have been looking at them all,, Myself, I'm looking for light weight,,, and EZ and cheap,, I like the looks of the Weekender myself,, I have a Subaru wagon, and I think it will pull it, I'm working on the trailer part,, it will be a cheap harbor frieght 4x8,, I do have a old popup trailer with a good floor and frame,,, so I might use it,, as soon as I can find it under the snow,,, I will measure it up,, I like the origianal tear though,,, which would be lighter? HMMMM, living in the Seattle area, I can go to Boeing surplus, thay have all the goodies that I need,,,, I hope to get this project started asap! We shall be going to a Leon Russell birthday bash in april of 2006, in Muskogee Ok. so Im praying I can get this done,,,in time! if not then a tent will do!

Nick...welcome to ur site for challenged builder Building a lightweight tear is really not a problem but don't forget the gear ya gonna load in it can add up pretty quickly...keep us posted...we do have inquiring minds(really some of us do have minds)

Thank you Jack! Any help will be helpful! I'm looking for easy,simplistic and light! I hear you about Extra "stuffage"! Out of all that you have seen, which is the easiest to build? Is aluminum lighter? Wood? beer can's?
I thought of all aluminam, but then I need more input!

paradise: I am building a 4'x4'x9'6" woody style tear.all that it is lacking is some small trim and paint for the trailer and it tips the scales at 700 lbs. with no gear such as cooler(s) or bedding or consumables.

Kevin, I just had a long talk with myself and myself admits he had it set at +6 hours and not -6 hours. We both took care of it and all is well. I'll sleep better tonight. It's hard being nuts! Sometimes I feel like your avatar!
