With as many trucks as there are here, you're bound to see them. The first time I saw them, I nearly busted one I was laughing so hard. For some reason, my wife failed to see the humor in it. I guess it's a guy thing.

Rocky Mt. Oysters....but are also known as "bull fries"..."calf fries" breaded and dipped in ranch dressing....they're GREEEEAT!....also if you haven't had rattlesnake...that's another treat...I used to go to Dales exotic meats in Denver...buy a snake...skinned and ready to grill, in a vacuum pouch....I'd grill it and make a dip out of it....everyone ate it up....don't tell them though...people get squeemish on that sort of thing...they're ok with it if they don't see it before you cook it...Doug

Rattlesnake is fine... It's a pretty oily meat, so I prefer it jerkied.
Testicles from beef?... No Thanks! :shock:

Up in Stillwater, Oklahoma, they have a big gathering every year. It's advertised as the 'Testicle Festival'. You can get "fries" prepared in alot of different ways. My brother once wore his t-shirt from there to a gathering at my home. I overheard my father-in-law ask my mother-in-law if my brother's shirt had on it what he thought it was! We all had a good laugh over that!

I grew up eating beef tongue at least once a month. I keep trying to remember to get the recipe from my mother. I think she sliced it into about 1/8" slices, heated it up in a fry pan, and covered it with some sort of homemade BBQ/tomato sauce. I have thought about getting some from the local grocery store, but the wife refuses to even touch it. It would be alot of food to keep in the freezer for just me. :(

When I was a kid and went deer hunting we would often fry up the "Buck Fries" for appetizers. I just could never get myself to try them. :?

Our local grocery stores have quite a bit of different foods, especially in teh meat section. Probably cuz of the large hispanic population here.

Rob, don't they sell tongue in the appetizing department, where they sell cold cuts and cut it to whatever portion you want? Maybe that's different, like that tongue is already cooked, like baloney or something.

I have only seen it in the "uncooked" section. It is just a big ol' cow tongue curled under itself sitting on a piece of styrafoam wrapped in plastic.

I refuse to have a fruit cake thread sitting ABOVE a bull's balls thread for more than two days, so I simply HAD to post this to get it into the number one spot once again.

(Nothing personal at all Chris--but it's Wednesday afternoon before Christmas and no one here at the office wants to BE here, and we're all thinking of ways to kill some time.)

I saw some shows on the cooking channel(s) that showed fruitcake COULD be really good. But I think that the majority of us have only eaten the bad ones, the ones passed on from generation to generation.

Now THERE'S a switch:

Hijacking my own bull balls thread and steering it to fruitcake.
