Diane and I plan to leave Iowa on the 9th or 10th, spend a day or two in the Black Hill area, then on to Yellowstone. We will arrive at the gathering on thursday.
I never make reservations, so I don't know where we will be staying. I have traveled this way for years and have always found a place to camp.
We wish everyone a safe trip. See you all soon.

We plan on leaving Mpls/St Paul on Friday too. 1st night we'll stay at Theodore Roosevelt NP in ND, 2nd Night at the bottom of the Bear Tooth outside Red Lodge, MT. Sun night either at Slough Creek or Pebble Creek or else in a NF campground outside Cooke City, MT. Mon & Tues reservations at Canyon Campground in YNP, then 2 nights at Gros Ventre Campground in Teton NP. We'll pull into WTW on Friday. I'll be with my daughter Nikki.

You will be one day ahead of us the whole time. That's cool.
Slow, Any chance of snow with 20's &30's night temps? That would really round out a beautiful summer vacation!!

Jennie has a cousin in Kemmemmer so we are going to drive up there on Thursday, do some grocery shopping also will be testing the water system on this trip. Will be up around noon on Friday. Will also need some help with the new lantern. Boys will be with my dad and the girls at my sisters "Camp Aunt". So just us adults on this trip.

Steve ,
If you see this before you call would you ask whether the camp has a phone number that could be used to reach one of us in case of emergency? I'm thinking we might not have cell reception & would like to leave an emergency number if one is available. Thanks.

Slow, remember, not too long ago, your father was in the hospital. If, heaven forbid, something like that should happen again, wouldn't you want to know right away?

I suspect there is a phone number for the local sheriff or ranger that could be called; and, if it was an emergency, they would probably drive up to the campground and let you know, wouldn't they?

I have 25 people who rely on me for their livelihood so I have to drive every day to where I get a signal and check in. It was a miracle at all that I was granted two weeks vacation in a row. I'd like to shut out the rest of the world entirely but it's just not possible.

, Well i have a sink in the galley but it drains to a beach sand bucket under the trailer then dump as needed into the bush, fire place......... always handy to have a bucket of water if a fire comes a blaze or maybe when your fellow camper needs to be woken up from drinking too much and the water smells better then the camper does  and the solar panel is gonna need some sun light so if it does rain let is happen when we are all tucked away in our little trailers.

 Methinks a lot of the bear warnings are the result of bureaucratic self justification. My family camped in the vicinity of Flagg Ranch ( between Teton and Yellowstone Parks)1 to 2 weeks every year for elk and deer hunting. In 55+ years of this there was only 1 time when we had a bear in camp. This was with cooking over a campfire, brushing our teeth, washing our faces, wives and mothers in camp and meat hanging in the shade. There was more of a problem with coyotes scrounging scraps.
