LCGII bar-b-que Saturday night

Postby madjack » Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:17 pm

...we have hadda lot tough talk on who has the best bar-b-que...well now we need a firm idea on how many will be contributing to the 'que...I would hope that we could get at least 10 people to 'que up something good on their smokers...Boston Butts, Briskets, some of your fancy homemade sausage or what ever your "specialty" is. Also keep in mind that we will be feeding well over 100 folks...maybe as many as 150...who knows for sure...so it would be nice if each person cooking meat can do at least 10-15 pounds worth(a nice sized brisket)

So, please let me know if you are going to do a 'que and what you are planning...either here or by PM...my crew and I will be doing up a couple of smoker pits full of garlic stuffed pork roasts and probably a bunch of Italian sausage(maybe) along with a LARGE pot of Cajun Dirty Rice...so what will the rest of you 'queing experts be doing.........

I'm gonna do a 'Boston Butt' if I can fiigure a way to get my smoker down there (not the one I had at PJ in July, I've got the camper cap back on my little P/U & that one won't fit). Maybe I can squeeze the square, taller one in for this trip. 8)

I plan to arrive early Friday afternoon. After I've set up, I'll be glad to help in the "kitchen". I have no ability as a cook.

Should/can I bring something for one of your team to smoke (e.g, Turkey, Butt, Briskett)? 10lb OK?

OK, now I'm hungry. I need BBQ for lunch.

I have requested a pick-up truck to tow with that weekend from my friends at Chrysler, but they don't know what will be available, yet. So, if I get a pick-up, I will bring my smoker. If not, I'm still willing to contribute some meat for someone elses smoker.

BTW, I bought some pretty good sized bags of Pecan chunks at Academy a few weeks ago for, as I recall, $1.98 a bag.

I cleaned them out. I plan to go back and see if they have more at that price. If you have an Academy near you, it may be worth a look.

I don't find the same deal on their web site.

I'll just plan on bringing a side dish or napkins... lots of napkins.... haha

If several of y'all are making meat at 10# or more each, then those that don't smoke or grill will be fine to bring the '' fixins'' and desserts.

Like usually done at a South Central potluck, they'll be plenty of food !!!

Is Tony J bringing the Margarita machine again???

Yes, he is planning to. But unlike last year, I think I will make 'em much earlier in the day--as a snack. It was almost too cool to drink that beverage last year. Note, I said "almost." If it is too cool this year, we'll just have to "suffer" and do shots! :D

I should have plenty of tequila and mixer, but additional stashed bottles of the magic T won't be turned down (just in case I run out of what I brung).
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.
