Here are a few photos of Palo Duro. We didn't do our usual walk around because of the rain, so not all tears are here. Sorry.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park Gathering

Postby queeniejeanne » Wed May 20, 2009 8:18 am

What a great time, great place, great people, great food, great animals, all so great. Wanting to make sure you got the "GREAT" point, ;) While the weather was injurious to some of us we still laughed a lot.:awesome:
Ed and Ruby, no one can hold a candle to the hospitality you all put out during this gathering. We are newbies but even the oldies are saying the same.
We came home thru Cap Rock Canyon, had lunch there with the cute little animals, and then spent the night at Great Plains State Park on Lake Tom Sneed in Altus OK. Came on in by way of Muskogee, lunch with Dennis' identical twin.
Got home about 7:45 on Monday night. Opened the shop Tuesday and was so busy all day playing catch up that I could not get to the forum.

Here are some of his pictures:

Sorry I am so slow to send a HUGE thank you to Ed and Ruby as well. You guys are the best. We hated that we had to pack it in on Saturday and miss all the partying. Was good to see everyone, but we would have like to stay and visit with yall some more. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts for my kids in Pampa ... made it to Pampa to check on the kids and grandbaby AKA Tator ... things were pretty beat up. Son-in-law's car will probably be totaled. Lots of lots glass etc but the brunt of the storm passed about a half mile to the east of their house. It seemed that the weekend was doomed to excitement. When we went over, the kids were cleaning up, resting, and contemplating just how expensive the storm was gonna be for them but they say it comes in THREE"S.......Went to eat with them Sunday night before we left to come back to Amarillo, the kids went back home to find a swarm of bees wreaking havoc everywhere. Barely got into the house when they heard the dog screaming in the back yard.... ( is the brother to my little Sam... they are twinkies) anyway, poor Gus was covered with bees.. finally got him de-swarmed and in the house......Next day, vet bill was around $300.00. SO, it was a rough weekend in Pampa.

Thanks to everyone posting pictures. We really enjoy the pic and we forgot to bring our camera. By the way I am glad we camped the week-end we did and not Memorial Day Week-end they had more rain than we did.

article From the Amarillo paper

PALO DURO --- Flooding in Palo Duro Canyon closed all the water crossings in the park Sunday. All the crossings were opened back up later in the evening. Park officials say they usually flood when it rains in the canyon. They got about 2.5 inches of rain Sunday. Almost 2,000 people came out to the canyon yesterday for memorial day weekend. TxDOT helped to clear the mud off the crossings before they were all re-opened.

Postby queeniejeanne » Wed May 27, 2009 6:17 pm

Oh, by the way, on the way back from Palo Duro a nice Okla Highway Patrolman wanted a closer look at my camper. Let me off with a warning, even thou it was in a construction zone. I was doing 64 in a 45......how lucky.. :applause:
