If you want hula girls we can all go to the SLO farmers market on Thursday. My wife and I watched the hula performance on stage that evening. Why hire entertainment, I am sure that some of the participants are very talented in one way or another, ie. musicians.

After the potluck, and treking back from bottom loop, I spotted a few games that Matt laid out. Actually, it was getting dark, and his wife was bringing it back to their camper. Gage and I started playing the giant Jenga for a short while, until we found out we were not exactly playing it correctly.

Hmmm. who offered the horseshoe game, was that Ken. I didn't see anyone tossing. Ok, ok new game 2 points each for each raccoon tagged with a paint ball gun. haha. Just kidding.
Why just dance, when you can Salsa!

Next time I could do a nature hike, I train the Los Padres Forest Docents and volunteers in Santa Monica, so I know my nature stuff. (Not a Naturist Walk!)

A paper containing times of events might be nice. but spur of the moment is more fun. I missed the Douch oven at the beginning had to go into town and did not realize when was what. although I think you posted it on the net. And the wife wanted to know what they did and said and well I kinda missed the important parts. Now I have to have Dean the Pro show us next time we go to the Northern events.

Althought most of the time I have know idea when or where they are because most posts do not start. with You are invited to: time: Date: Place:
So as the Box Kite becomes a trailer that looks more finished and more folks drop by. I am still temped to keep in unfinished on the outside and looking like a Limo on the inside.

I did enjoy meeting all of you and all the wonderful things you each had done to your trailers. We will be there next year I will have hot water too, I baught one of those Colman instant hotwater units at campworld last week end.

Maybe we can get the ranger to trap the coons a week before the event. they have a 25 mile range, it will take them a month to get back. Otherwise we bring a large trailer for the racoons with lots of food inside one way in and a free ride to a faraway place.

Waffels were WONDERFUL, Pot luck was WONDERFUL, and everyone was GREAT. met really nice folks made new friends, and got many new ideas.
I could be anywhere on the Centeral Coast but Mantana De Oro was more private. Morro Bay does offer showers and Flush toilets But it is very exposed and lesser a feeling of one close family. And You are all Family

Next SLO Gathering

Postby Ken Fincher » Wed Oct 10, 2007 12:59 am

Steve
We had a great time and we would return, I just wish there was some way of fitting more vehicles and trailers into Montana De Oro campgrounds, Because if you throw another gathering I would almost bet the farm that there will be alot more people whom will want to attend the next one & would probably fill the whole campsite and the lower loop is a ways away from the main area.
This is just a thought if the park is notified early enough in which Lana may be able to throw a bug into the ears of her superiors since there was such a good turn out for the 2007 gathering, maybe put in to reserve all of the sites starting from the road that heads up to the upper loop from the lower loop, Might be able work out somthing so we can get as many as three teardrops in one spot and be able to park our vehicles along the road still leaving room for there parks clean up crews to drive though.
Or maybe a possability. Maybe be able to line up the teardrops around the inside circle everyone would not have a fire pit but that would be nice in way we could have a couple of big fires in the inner circle and people could visit & tell raccoon stories ect., And there are a few picnic tables in which we could move closer to the trailers and they have more tables down in there storage area.

If this could be a possability each vehicle & trailer parked around the inner circle could be charged as if they we're in a regualar spot.

I have done this before alot of parks will work with you as long as you let them know ahead of time. You would be giving them about a 11 month notice, And the park would make alot more money, And this would work out to thier benifit.

You or We would probably have to make some signs to put at the enterance of where our area would start, Saying somthing like 2008 SLO Teardrop Trailer Gathering vehicles only, Walk ins welcome come take a peek.

Steve I know you have checked into this before the 2007 gathering but now we have a track record & Lana may be able to help make next year be even bigger and better (2007 was great do not take this wrong),We will be there for sure no matter were you end up making it happen, We may be in a different Teardrop.

And next year it would be nice if we could possably have some sort of name tag with a discription of each trailer & the names of the people with the trailer on thier trailer. I would be more then happy to help with this next year.

Sorry Cliff I did not forget you, I do not think that I said I would bring horse shoes, I may have but I do carry a set with me, Along with my bowling balls, Sorry everybuddy I should have set them up & I should have pulled out my bowling balls for the raccoons.

THANKS AGAIN STEVE YOU DID A GREAT JOB.

Thanks everyone for your ideas and good feedback about the SLO Gathering. We, Chris, Dan, Lana, and I, have talked a little about doing another one next year. It's too early to say for sure we will and whether we'll be able to use Montana do Oro again.

The help Matt and Joanne contributed to do the Dutch Oven class and that Doug Hodder and the Waffle Baking Crew gave to feed us all breakfast Saturday morning along with the help of many other people all helped make the gathering a success. You're all, everyone who came, greatly appreciated.

For the "next" gathering we'll need and ask for more peoples help to plan things we'll do ahead of time. Then the tasks to put on the gathering can be lighter and done a little less by the "seat of the pants."

I've come to this thread late. Sorry 'bout that. If that site is used again, I think one or two road signs would help new people find it. After you've been there, it's no big deal. But my first time down the road I was convinced I was lost.

The only thing that would be nice to change would be the proximity of the various groups. It seemed very spread out to me. Since I was buzzing around on a motorcycle, it was no big deal. But I would not have liked walking that road to make it to the upper circle.

Steve,

I just looked at the goup camp at Morro Bay it has a shower restroom there now. you might look at it next time you are at that house.

I does look small but it the trailers were side by side and the cars parked along the road we might fit.

Hi Ron, early on I looked at the two side by side Morro Bay State Park group camp sites. They're nice with a pretty bay view, too. The bathroom and shower building in the center would have been great. We could have camped close together yet still a little way away from the main MB camp ground. Unfortunately the total vehicle capacity of the two MB group sites is low. If we'd used both of the group sites they'd only allow a total of 26 vehicles. It's not nearly big enough for a future SLO 2.0.

It might be nice for a small SLO 1.5 in spring with a bakers dozen teardrops...if I have a campable teardrop by then?!? The MB group sites require a big deposit up front to reserve them. So the stars, sparks, and sawdust would all have to align to pull that off.

It's far less capacity than the Montana de Oro campground which has about 47 usable campsites and allows three vehicles to be parked in each one.

BTW, a SLO welder will start building my frame this coming Monday.
