We use simple wooden props, one on each side. They're 1 1/8 inch diameter wooden dowels with rubber covers fitted over each end. The top fits into a brass cup set into the inner side of the galley door (the cups are brass closet door finger pulls). The bottom currently just sits on the hatch lower door sill, but I'm planning to add brass pins that fit into small holes to prevent the props from being kicked out sideways, not that that has ever happened, LOL.
Anyway, the wooden props are low tech, dependable, and they look nice. I finished them with a coat of CPES followed by Epifanes varnish. They'll probably last forever.
