They'd be a good addition I think. While you're at it, make
them with periodic gaps/holes so that you can be able to tie
things to it. A lot of South African OffRoad campers/caravans
usually have at least a pipe-like front and side perimeter
"bumper" that is meant to help direct errant branches away
from the trailer but also acts as a stepping place and a rail
to tie things to.
It'd also be a good idea to add 2-3 receivers on
each side [see oasis maker's thread on it] as well, as they'd
be extremely handy to attach anything from stabilizing jacks,
to tables, to awnings etc.. It wouldn't be that much added
work or expense but would deliver a lot of versatility.
Maybe mounting the running board/bumper assembly to the
underneath of the chassis main rails with cross pieces to support
it would be a way to add it without interfering with your doors ?
