Sewing Ripstop Nylon - what type of thread?

It's funny, I did a little googling, and found both sides of the spectrum recommended.. thin thread, small needle, and heavy thread, big needle.


:thumbsup: That is what I mean! Now go buy an new one because unless yours is very good it will not hold a tension for high volume sewing long. I just have one for heavier stuff so I don't have to mess with it.. :roll:

For entertainment value, this is my "sewing table". Not exactly ideal conditions to do 11 foot seams. I now have a 11 foot square piece of ripstop nylon. Each seam has been sewn twice, with one more to come so the rough edges will be completely encapsulated.

11 feet feels like 11 miles when working under these conditions.

for ripstop projects I've always cut with a hot wire (stops the fray that never ends)
then folded the edge in about 3/16ths, doubled it over and then hand-hemmed with a blanket stitch and monofilament fishing line....
Mopar's what my busted knuckles bleed, working on my 318s...
