Welcome Brian, towing capacity varies for a camry, depending on the year. 2007- 2010 all show 1000lbs for the regular camry and o for the camry hybrid and solara.

:o You might seriously go down and have the trailer frame weighed before you start! Mine is pretty heavy and not that big.

After that go for it  and don't forget :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: Image

btw, you might be able to cut the frame down. ;)

I just tore one of those down to the frame yesterday, though mines only 6'6"x9'. It took me most of the day but I was trying to salvage some parts so I wasn't rushing too much.

The hardest part was getting the old plywood off the frame because I couldn't find all the screw heads hiding under the glued down vinyl flooring. I resorted to setting a circular saw to the depth of the plywood and making cuts all across it so I could rip it free from the frame in smaller pieces.

Also, if your frame is anything like mine it should be VERY light, I don't think mine weighs more than 200 pounds as it is very light guage metal.

My 4 banger, '02 Camry has 140,000 miles on it, with somewhere around 25,000 pulling my 8 ft woody teardrop. No trans-cooler, but keep it serviced at suggested intervals. I shift down out of overdrive when on mountain grades and cruise right along with the truckers on the interstates. Works for me. Good luck on your build, remember, pics, pics, pics.

I pull my 1100 lbs TD that is a bit higher than most with a 2000 Suzuki Vitara with a 2000cc motor and auto tranny.

Like Rolly says, service the tranny, use top quality oil and slow the heck down and enjoy the trip. I feel that people who put an oil cooler in their transmission so they can drive just as fast as before are still going to have problems.
