I stayed at Indigo Bluffs campground near Empire MI--a pretty nice campground. Lots of trees and and the folks that work there are very nice. It's near the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City, so there's lots of nice touristy stuff to do and civilization not far away when you get the urge. (caught a matinee at the Traverse City Multiplex one rainy afternoon which was a nice break.) I had a campsite at the east end of the campground which backs up against a horse farm. It felt pretty secluded and quiet back there!
I did quite a bit of cycling in the area (my main reason for the trip) and there are some good hills up there! My legs definitely felt it since it's pretty flat where I live.
