Yep that was the Fort Wayne gathering I was referencing at chain o lakes.

I had to wash my campin' clothes twice to get the smoke flavor out. :x

I just use my iPhone so I rigged up a couple of computer speakers in my galley to plug it into. Cheap, easy and it works great. Can't turn it up too loud but who wants to disturb the neighbors anyway.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Less than half of my trips are in campgrounds. Most are boondocking trips in the middle of the woods, or to the occasional music festival. Having a bit more than small speakers was one of my desires for this one.

I can always turn the "big stereo" down, but you can't turn a little one up.

I'm building the Road Foamie with speakers inside and portable speakers outside. The speakers will be switchable and the outside speakers will have a separate volume control. I agree that I don't like listening to others' music too, so I keep it just loud enough for us to hear... Music is the one thing that shouldn't be shared with other campers

I agree that music should be enjoyed at reasonable levels and what might be acceptable at one location might be very offensive at another. I am planning on a sorta nice-ish sound system with speakers inside and out that can be individually switched on and off. For me, I think two speakers in, two out will be just about perfect. I can't decide whether i want a radio head-unit with a DVD player, a radio and separate DVD player, or just a plain radio.

To get up on my own soapbox, I think one of my very worst pet peeves is to be fishing or otherwise enjoying time on the water, communing with nature , etc, when a ski boat comes out with the speakers designed for the skier/tuber/wake-boarder to listen too. That kills my whole day, even if I like the same kind of music (which seems to never happen!) Sound carries a LONG way!

I have two fairly decent built in speakers in my LG RT. When I took out the non-functioning radio, I left the speakers in. I have to have an amplifier-type electronic, another radio or device to hook them to in order to work. I've seen small speakers you plug your ipod into and have one at home (can use AC or batteries).

Does anyone know of something similar that is small that I can also plug those speakers into? I'm I just dreaming? I don't want another radio.

Hugs,

I still love the suggestion to blast some bag pipe music back at too loud campers (after bed time). Personally my sound system has been and will be some USB powered computer speakers hooked up to my laptop. while they can be loud, unless you are right next door they won't bother anyone. If I really need some volume, the TV audio has enough to annoy the neighborhood.
At home and at work I use a wireless FM transmitter to broadcast my music (southern gospel) or talk radio directly to me, as most of they guys I work with don't care for either.
