Forum Troubles

Postby IASCOTT » Sun Mar 25, 2012 3:46 pm

Is it just me or does this new forum seem to respond slow and time out a lot. I've had trouble with this new board sense the move. I've gotten this response a number of times

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at www.tnttt.com Port 80

Plus a number of timed out responses.

Do I need to be looking for a cause on my end or is it a server problem.

I spend stupid amounts of time here browsing and reading all the new stuff and rarely run into error messages, although I do notice slowness at times.

I find if i hit the back button, 9 times out of 10 i have to shut the browser down and restart it, times out or just won't load.
Frustrating but so is life :)

Yes there are times when it is slow...

We've done what we can to reduce the bottlenecks... But when the forum loads up with people and bots, there's not much we can do.

That isn't what you told me. You don’t really know, do you? I think your just guessing at what could be causing the slowdown whereas we didn’t have this slow problem with the old forum format......

Hughes doesn't like the forum?? Argh!! I was just looking at them for my new service out in the boonies, I can't see how a pipeline would care about content, but I am not schooled on sattelite internet either!

Maybe YOU did not have a problem with it being slow, but I sure did. Lots and lots of times, it would take 5 minutes to make a post take after hitting submit. I really do not see much of a difference as far as that is concerned. Overall I think it is a tiny bit better! :)

I had Wild Blue satellite for several years and it was slow and went down anytime it got cloudy. When I replaced my cell phone with a smart phone I started using the cell phone as a hotspot (read wireless router) to access the internet. It worked so much better than Wild Blue I cancelled the satellite service. If you can get a 3G signal at your property you might consider it.

I was thinking about getting an "Aircard" like you are talking about at least for work since they will pay for it, at work we don't do much that takes speed but reliability is key.
