Well sort of a model, as I can not make a decent sketchup drawing and I cant really see what it "looks" like there I decided to build a model.

here is my original thread. What I plan on is a semi off road trailer that my wife and i can do more than just sleep in if needed.

here is my model. The body is 6 by 10 by 5 high. The stick man is 6 foot tall, scale is 12 to 1. I have not built the slide out galley yet. Nor have I put any canvas/tents on it.

I am slightly undecided if I want the door on the passenger side, or one on both sides. I am leaning more and more to either moving the galley or the door to the passenger side.

But with 4 by 5.5 of floor space, i don't really need two doors. space right now is a short (6'6" ) queen, a 6 by 3.5 sleeper couch, if it needs another bed.

The storage space will be under the couch, some small cabinets, about 6 inches deep on the non galley side plus a 6' by 2' by 1' deep space under the rear of the bed. The out side pantry will be about 6 inches deep. The pantry and storage cabinets will basicly be even with the wheel wells so they wont really intrude in to the foot space.

Looks good! The only thing I could say is I am a fan of 2 doors. Much easier to get in and out of and making the bed is less of a hassle. Also there are times when a camp site layout could leave you wishing you had a door on the other side.

Also I would hinge the door on the front leading edge.

One thing I like about them is that they have the two doors opposite
each other. Very handy for use. One thing to consider is to mount
storage bins/cabinets to the secondary door that swing away with the
door when the door opens. This is often done on European caravans
[TTT] too. Some older models of the Jurgens Xplorers used to have sinks
and shower controls mounted to the secondary door at a comfortable
height for outside use in a tent 'bath' enclosure attached to that side
of the TTT body with a privacy curtain for over the door opening when
that secondary door was swung out for use.

The South African and Aussie Off-Road caravan and camper manufacturers
have really done their homework on these type of units. Loads of ideas
and features to 'emulate'.

Mezmo thanks for the links. I like the rear door on one of those. it also kind of gives more storage space, if i keep the out side shape the same. As well as gives me more flexibility for tongue weight, and may a potty inside where they have the shower. ( number one only at night )
