We went to our favorite creek in the mountains. Backed the tear down a steep hill onto a bench just above the creek.
Was in the shade of a huge pine. Probably 5' to 6' across. thought it would be nice to have the shade with the temps in the mid 80's up there.

Set up the galley, and Kat started fixing breakfast.
Heard a LOUD thud behind us???? Looked and didn't see anything out of place.
A few minutes later, another thud, accompanied with pieces of a broken branch raining down.
Got out the binoculars and spotted a tree squirrel near the top of the tree. He was gnawing the pine cones off the branches. These are not small cones. Probably 12" to 14" long, and 2 pounds.
We ended up putting the shade cover up, not for the shade, but as a bomb shelter.
Cones bounced off the shade several times over the weekend.
I did get a picture of the culprit.

It was a nice weekend.
