MuskeTear Build Begins.

Postby NightCap » Sun Aug 28, 2011 12:46 pm

I'm starting this build this week. It is a trailer I designed to pull with my 2002 Mustang GT. I'm hoping to have it done for next seasons camp-outs. My first tear I did while being Laid off from work. This one I'll have to work on in the evenings. I'm hoping the design is cool enough to be pulled behind a Mustang. The spoiler will have a solar panel built in. Let me know what you think. I'm fishing for complements :D, however constructive criticism is MORE than welcome.

I like it! Be prepared for the "the wheel's not far enough back" comments. Depending on your galley, you may need to adjust (Or do like I did, and just pack your tear accordingly.. lol)

Good point! I'll probably have to move them back a bit. But what they don't know is the tongue box is full of batteries etc. :D

Thanks for the input!

I think that instead of I roof vent, I'd install a moon roof. Makes for a more stream line look. Other than that, it looks good.

RE: Mustang TD

Postby mezmo » Mon Aug 29, 2011 12:05 am

Hi Nightcap,

Nice profile and side graphics.

Just wanted to mention that you seem to be keying on the 'Mustang' car
connection, and you may run into a lot of name confusion with the current
TD name spelling. Take it from someone who's last name is 99.9 per cent
of the time mispronounced.

"Musketear" is a nice name but it will be associated with the 'Three
Musketeers', as in the French Cavaliers from literature and/or the candy
bar named after them, or the 'Muskie' fish by those into fishing, not the
Mustang automobile I would guess. You'll probably be explaining the
name connection to the car 'forever'.

Maybe something like " 'StangTear" or "Tear'Stang" or "GT-Tear" might
associate better with the car model name. "Wild Horse Inn",
"Wild Horse'in", "Mustang's Tear", "GT Horse'in" may be some other
possibilities connecting to the car name.

Remember, this is under the 'constructive criticism' category! Ha!
If you're keen on the "Musketear" name, then obviously keep it. Just
get your explanation lines added to your "tour" speech for when you show
it off to all the curious campers.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Good Idea on some of the names you mentioned. Yeah, the name is still in flux. I started with TearStang, which I really like and the MuskeTear that my son likes. You can look through my album and see most of the name changes. I will come up with something before it's done. I am getting a lot out of these comments. I appreciate them.

Nice design concepts, and will be fun when it is completed! Perhaps the use of the logo graphic some where on the TD, other than the window. Seems it may diminish a nice view from the inside looking out. You could use a few actual emblems off Mustang cars to add to your TD trim.

This theme build will be a neck turner when you finish it! Owner of a 1965 2+2 Mustang project.

Thanks! Super Idea on the emblem. Maybe a GT Badge too. I used to own a 65 mustang too. Miss the darn thing.

Thanks.

If you go with the moon roof, go to a jun...I mean recycling yard and get one from an old custom van. They are bigger and flatter and mine was only $25, but that was 5 years ago. The ones made for a car have a side to side curve. Also do not get one with the dot matrix, ask for a tinted one. Your eyes wii go buggy with the dots.
