Trailer names

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

The name of our teardrop is not too orginal. The "silver" part obviously references the primary color, the "beatle" part references the shape, and the combined "Silver Beatle" name is a tribute to our favorite group of all time - The Beatles. (Actually, among other names, they were called "Silver Beatles" before becoming "The Beatles.")

Tom & Linda Great Name!
And beautiful Teardrop. Name suites it.
Woodbutcher....loved all three of your names.
Guess I am still having trouble with naming trailers after pets????
But the name of this game is to be creative with our builds, our TV's, our campsite decor, and ourTD names.
So all things are accptable when you are having fun.
Let's have lots of it..

After spending 1/2 of my time designing and re-designing, and since my name is Nelson, I just had to call my all-wood teardrop, the 1/2 Nelson Woody. The 1/4 Nelson Stacker soon followed close behind. No, there is no 1/8th Nelson, unless you count the 3x3, wheel-less levitator. Since they get progressively smaller, the next one will be invisible.

after getting rained on every day I built it except one, I joked about calling it "rain dancer", however having nothing to do with native american anythng (other than my new state senator claiming to be one sometimes  ) it didn't stick.
I took the box off the trailer and made a utlity trailer out of it for a year, then "finished" the box just in time to mount it back on the trailer for our anniversary trip. And wouldn't you know it the day I mounted it again it was threatening rain and lots of thunder. "Storm Warning" seemed appropriate for the constant threat or rain during the build, and for my new side job as an interim pastor.

I don't have a trailer to name. However my wife did name my telescope "The Other Woman" It was a joke because she said that if I wasn't spending the night with her then I was spending the night with The Other Woman. Now it has gotten to the point that when people ask about my wife they also ask about The Other Woman.

ESCAPED2 -- my tow vehicle is an Escape with a vanity plate of "ESCAPED". So, I wanted to say that the TD has Escaped, also. So, I've escaped to a vacation spot, escaped from the job that I retired from, escaped from whatever, but I know I'm going camping when I towing her and escaping to wherever I'm going

There was never a concious effort to name any of my builds they just popped up out of no where.

My little 3x5 motorcycle kinda was egg shaped so he became "Eggbert".

The 07 build was a 5x10 and was to look like a cubby style but he was a but more rotund when finished so he became "Chubby".

The 3rd build was a bit of a wild design so became "Barn to be wild" Yep that is The barn.

Shortly after I wanted a tailgating style chuckwagon so my assistant ( my neighbor Jimmy )kept calling it the "wishbone wagon" and it stuck. It was named after Gil Favor's cook on the old series Rawhide, Mr. Wishbone.

The 5th was a tiny sleeper only (sans Galley) so the only famous sleeper that came to mind was Rip Van Winkle.

And its starting to look like the Caboose tiny house build will be a part of "The Cannonball" from the series Pettycoat junction !

No I never worked at them they simply arrived one day and kinda stuck.
Growing older but not up !

The first time I pulled my Little Guy Sport she had a large storage box at the front of the "front porch", where the prior owner had placed it. She was so tongue heavy that she jerked the tow vehicle something awful! :o I called her "Galloping Gertie". After I got home I moved the box to the back of the porch and she has pulled fine ever since. :) Without the jerking, her name was upgraded to "Gertrude", and she is my pride and joy. :D

The tow vehicle is a 2006 Buick Terraza that I used to borrow from my daughter, but bought last month. Now that it is mine, I can name it, too, much to the dismay of my daughter! I thought about "Hortense", since that seems to go well with Gertrude, but my son-in-law suggested "Heathcliff", from Red Skelton's comedy sketches featuring "Gertrude and Healthcliff, a pair of cross-eyed seagulls". After reviewing a few of the sketches on You-Tube, I decided he was right. So the TV is "Heathcliff", and "Hortense" has been bestowed on my mobility scooter!

We thought our profile looked like a whale, so that became our theme. Our daughter suggested "monstro" from the whale in Pinocchio, and it stuck.

When I first built my tear in 2007 I called it "The Flying Hippo" after a rock formation near me. Then this past Feb I took it to the north rim of the Grand Canyon to a place called Toroweep. 55 some miles of gravel then the rocks get really really big then I remembered that it was a trip I made there in 2002 that was the big reason I built the TD like I did. I built it with that road in mind. Only took me 5 years to get back so I have changed the name to Toroweep.
