185W High voltage (48V) into a Morningstar SunSaver MPPT controller feeding a 150AH Lifeline AGM basically trouble free for 14 years (replace battery at 10 years (still in use). Powers a Waeco/Dometic fridge, lights, chargers TV/DVD SXM radio etc. I think you are wise in choosing components and building your own.

Hi y'all,
I'm in the same boat as Dahlia47, as for needing a solar system. The simpler the better.
So, keeping track of this thread.
I may have put the horse before the cart, because I have already bought a battery and now looking for the rest to hook up.
(Battery I purchased, is a Diehard Platinum H8 AGM 95 amp hours).
Not looking to take over this thread, just have a couple questions also.
What is the difference between a PWM Controller and a MPPT Controller?
And would the following system work with the battery I purchased?

https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-Monocryst ... 05-20&th=1

Thanks in advance for any information, y'all could give me.
Stay safe, David

That system will work fine.

MPPT controllers are more efficient than PWM controllers. I find that the PWM controllers do a fine job. MPPT controllers are generally too big and expensive. For the extra money, you can buy a second panel.

Thanks Tony, I'll keep looking at the renogy systems then. And yes, I noticed the difference in the prices between the controllers. Did you also go with the renogy battery?
