I think it's time to revisit the weekender.

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Glenn,

With my renewed fear of water, I decided to put the hinge for the hatch at the highest point possible. Then to further minimize the chance for water to get in, I made the hatch almost vertical.

Suddenly it's looking more like the rockhopper design I did a number of years ago... So I may have to change the name from Weekender to something else...

But for the moment, it's still the Weekender II

You mean like the RT? No, I never gave it much thought.

a little more blunt like the green lantern in shape. with a draw slide out kitchen, wouldn't there be a quicker build turn around ? I don't know just random thoughts.

My bad I'm trying to veer off to far from original design. I was thinking in terms of less seams quicker turnaround. I'll talk to myself in my head LOL :?

Chris,

Well, I thought I was going for a mad dash across the country teardrop... what ever that means...

Actually that means no porta potty in the teardrop...

So a mattress on the floor, wheels outboard, and a galley out back.

So she says, It needs to be 11 inches taller. :duh:

So I find a piece of wood 7 inches taller and make the modification.

She says she likes it... :phew:

The old trailer is 10', but I am going to chop 2' off.

Mike,

Sounds like your getting close to your "Ultralight" design....

If you go for 8 feet of roof, run your ply front to back, then your length wise cut off will work cross ways front or back.
The mini truck camper kick off the back, I did mine that way, sheds water off the roof away from back wall, do a full wall lift, inside the walls, real easy to weatherstrip on all four sides
If you go 10' overall, 10' aluminum is readily available, And I strongly suggest aluminum or membrane roof, properly sealed will last a long time

Couple real quick sloppy chops

I'm trying to remember wasn't that trailer 5' x 8'? I really liked that trailer it's sad to see it die.
