And smoke from all the surrounding fires is finally clearing enough for blue skies to show through......Last night driving home we had the most beautiful colors in the sky at sunset, from the residual smoke of the fires. Still have a lot of burning permits suspended and reduced use of fires in approved areas. Dean and I would like to take a drive up to his family's favorite place now that the roads are open again to see how much damage has been done. Wish us a successful trip with minimal damage to this primitive site, as it got engulfed by fires all around. We are hoping for the best......... :worship:

We drove to the Family Camp yesterday and were concerned as we made the trek by burned out patches, and large areas that were totally scorched. It was really eerie to see the landscape, which is normally lush green, all browned and "bleached" out looking trees. As we got closer to the turn off site, about 0.4 - 2.0 miles away, the burn spots were hit and miss, and you could see in places how the fire tore up the hill, crossing the road to the other side. Where we finally turned was in the middle of an area which had been the meeting point of two separate fire complexes which melded into one.

It was with great relief as we headed down the final tenth of a mile that the Camp and its rustic built structures were all intact, and NOTHING in this little piece of paradise had been touched by the fire. My husband's parents' ashes had been scattered in this gorgeous place, and we said prayers to them, and thanks that this piece of property was left unscathed. :worship:

What was really "weird" was this little pocket of land was surrounded by burnt areas on almost every side, and as we drove out we called out to each other what was clear and what had been burned along the route on our respective sides. It was a though the fire knew this particular place was a very special one, and decided to bypass it........for which we were so grateful to see the lush greenery and the creek running clear. It was a Sunday Drive that ended well for us.

Well the first Fall Crawl is officially over, but there are some of us that are still on the road.
We had 14 teardrops in all that participated in this year's Crawl. :applause:
8 of which made the full pull, making all 10 days and all 7 destinations.
We have already started planning for the 2nd Annual Fall Crawl and have a tentative loop in mind.
This was an amazing adventure!
Thanks to all that came along with us!

just checking in to say I got home late last nite all in one piece - 1175 miles for me and the trip was GREAT!!!!!! I am here to say the "Bindford 6000" will be a passenger from here out on all of my trips and I am hoping it will be along with the return of the !!deal!! of the century for this inaugural 1st Craw!! - the $4.00 garage sale "Bindford Smoothie Pro 600" which along with some electricity and buttermilk will be a great addition to our future travels - whether it's camping or crawling!!!! (just add in the "Butt Hut" and some late nite conversation around the firepit, we could solve all of the world's problems and than some!)

Hi Ted
Glad to hear you are home safe.
We are lost in Oregon looking for our friends Ken & Heather.
At Walmart now in Redmond picking up Limeaide (seems to be a shortage across Washington & Oregon) really hope the Binford Pro 600 will see some action later today.
Only a few more miles south until we head north honing in on the Butt Hut with supplies!
Really enjoyed the 10 days we had together!

Hi Richard
We must have past by each other yesterday.
We came from Cove Palisades in Madras south to Redmond before heading over to the west side of the mountains. We are heading south to Oakridge before going north to Mulino.
Who knows we might see you at McIver as it was one of the places we were considering.
Looking forward to seeing you at Fall Brigade

Yes, we doubled it!
We had 6 Teardrops in attendance and had a wonderful Fall Weekend for, what is probably the last camp out of the year for Sandi and I. We started in April!
Thank you to all of those that joined us in Monitor Wa. for a 4 night stay at the Wenatchee River County Park. And you too Ted, for your one night...it was great to see you man, and thanks for the effort (Sleep is highly over rated??)
For those that where unable to make it this year.....there is always next year! And remember this small Gathering of Tears is on the "Dry" side of the mountains, and October is still fairly warm.
There was some talk of even more get to gethers over the winter on the "Milder" side of the mountains.
Please keep everyone posted.
Remember our PNW TJ Chapter newsletter (email list) now reaches 75 Teardrop owners here on the North West)....so if you want to share with others, just e-mail me the information and I will pass it along effortlessly.
That go for any Teardrop related topic or Pictures (we all know how everyone loves pictures? especially over the winter!) just e-mail me!
Until we see you all again in the Spring!

PS
It is raining here today and there is no NFL game.....So I am officially back to work on Kermit. (Started 1 year ago tomorrow, but took the past 8 months off! )

It is awfully quiet out there!
Is there anyone from the PNW (that does include Idaho & Montana & B.C. in my books) checking in on the Forum these days?
Could be a long cold winter if not! :R
Let's get some chatter going here!!!!!
