:o Odd, that looks like someone tried to make a repair or cut away the frame to loose some weight.

Looks sturdy enough to do the job. :thumbsup:

And it was 5/8" plywood decking....and I haven't found any soft spots yet and when I was walking on it it felt sturdy enough.

Hey, Ken;
I just got an old Coleman for $250, it looks to be in pretty good shape. I'm keeping the two sidewalls and the floor, but the rest is going. I'm recycling the stove/sink/ cooktop, and probably the tail lights and whatnot.

I'm interested to see if you've made any progress on yours since your last post.

Dave

Finally got around to ripping the rest of the deck off. Solid except for a small spot near the door. There a pic in the link showing a piece of the deck....it's got black stuff on the underside, held up well for a 30 + years it's been in the weather.

Odd framing, the outer "rails" is a solid 2"x2" on one side (where the door was) , the other side (and past the fenders) has just a little piece/stub. The 2 inside main rails are 2"x4", while the A frame is 2"x3", while the other cross members are 1 1/2" angle iron.

Also in a couple of the pics is one of my 1/2 axles (thinking about replacing the current axle [with 13" tires on 4-4" bolt pattern] with the 5- 4 1/2" bolt pattern with 15" tires raising the overall stance of the trailer (approx. 4-6" which will look better behind my tow vehicle 4x4 F-350)

I'm going to draw out the frame in AutoCad; took the measurements today while also grinding off all the torx deck screws (100+ and counting)

In pic 7 it shows how the A frame was welded, I'm probably going to remove that 1st 1 1/2 " angle member and replace it with a 2"x2" close to teh bracket (for added support/strength) and might add a dropped footwell since there's room for it.

:thumbsup: That did it. Looks good with the new axles. :thinking: The doubling of the rails must be to hold heavy stuff on that side or something.

:twisted: Now you just need some sawdust. :twisted:
