I've had nothing but problems with plywood

Mike, your teardrops are built with such care and skill, do you have a shed you could put your campers under to protect them from the elements. Even if it was just 4x4's and a tin roof wouldn't that help?

Yes, I am going to have to do something... someone recommended we start a shed/carport thread... I will probably do that too!

I like the one Roly made, but it's not currently in his album. Maybe he would show us again.

I didn't do the whole raka fiberglass thing,The harsh chemicals & pricing was a factor.
On my build I scaled back and did the mineral spirits and spar varnish external house paint route.
So far so good, that being said I have stored mine in the garage. :worship:

If you do, the discussion will just change to "how do I stop my teardrop shed/carport from deteriorating?".....

Dan,

Good question... I'd like to know too!

@Andrew,

Do your carports delaminate over there in Old England?

Mike

Was that the luan that has a life time warranty against delamination?
I used a luan product on a couple of PDRacer sail boats my daughter and I built.
This stuff has stamped on the back, Life Time Warranty against delamination. I hope this is not the luan you used. :worship:

Wayne,

Nope, mine didn't have anything like that stamped on the back. Maybe that's what I need to use next time?

If you guys are going to build wooden TDs then they really deserve to have a shed/cover/garage of some type ... I recall many old friends that had wooden boats , all stored inside a garage or shed ... many lasting decades , same for TDs too huh ??? Wooden things left outside in the weather go to heck pretty quick ! :frightened:
Not a perfect solution as things stored inside get Dusty ... Easier to deal with than ROT !!!

Mike , finish your new Foamie , forget about Rot problems ....think about new problems like Frozen Turkey strikes ... :o

Speckles, my last dog, is buried in the back yard in a box made from left-over plywood from my bathroom remodel. The plywood is an orangish-color, tongue-in-grove, 3/4" thick, "moisture resistant" plywood from Lowe's. The ground is still level where she's buried....so I guess the plywood is still intact after two years. I'd say that's pretty good advertising for "moisture resistant".
