A new start!

Postby Nic » Tue Jan 18, 2011 11:47 pm

Many of you im sure have noticed i have been gone from the forum and gatherings. A big reason is the loss of my teardrop. But on a brighter note the other reason i have been gone is because i have a surprise!!!!! I STARTED A NEW BUILD!!!! Now i know everyone likes to see pix of builds as they go but i want to drop it all on you at once! Ill be posting some pix soon!
Im not lazy. I just hang out a lot.

:o Wow that was quick work! :applause: good for you! I'm glad to hear that you're not letting the loss of your trailer keep you down. Perhaps it's gone for a reason. You said that that 1st build helped get you through some dark times. Maybe now that those dark times have passed there's a reason why the trailer is gone as well. May this new build be a fresh new beginning for you! Have fun! I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Hi Nic,

I just saw the other thread about the loss of your 1st tear drop.

Nice to see you are going to build another trailer. What size tear are you building?

I don't have any philosophical thoughts to share with you, but I'm glad you're building another!

I am builing a 4x8. My last one was a 4x10. This one has a better lay out, style and it is also a woodie! It has some cool new trick ideas put into it. I wanted to hold out on posting pix of the build till it was 100% done but i cant do that. Im gonna go to my friends house and have him help me get some pix of it up.
Oh and yeah i got a better jig saw this time! Better tools all togethr, all new stuff!!! Last time my jig saw broke twice and i ended up cuting out a wall with a flathead and a hammer. lmao. ;)
This build puts my old build to shame i gotta say. Its like putting an ikea end table next to an antique family heirloom. No comparison! Ill give ya a taste of something cool in this one.... upper cabinets in the kitchen! Thats right! Its gonna be cool i cant wait to show it off! Or at least post some pix!
Once again i am making everything by hand, hardware is the only thing on it i have not made. I even cut my own glass! WOHOO! 8)
Im not lazy. I just hang out a lot.

True True True! Or at least im trying to think of it that way. I sure hope i get to at least see my old tear one more time before i die. Im not letting it get me down, it sucks no doubt. But its not a life ending thing. And i started my new build before i knew there was even a chance my first one was missing. Im not sure if workng on my new tear is helping ge over my first one or reminding me of my first one. Either way i love teardrops and i love bulding them. When i started the 2nd build i was thinking of how now i would have two to take camping and stick my nephews in my old one and of how cool it would be to see two campers i built setting side by side.UUUGGGHHH One day!

New Build

Postby Wild Bill » Wed Jan 26, 2011 10:31 am

Can't wait to see some pictures. I started a standee in the fall of 2009 and it is still just a frame. Now I have another chassis started for a teardrop. I need it to fit in a garage to work on it. Now it is too cold to do anything and I do not have much time. I motivates me to see others progress even if mine is stalled. I will get it done if it takes me another year. Good luck on your 2nd build, we learn from experiences, ours and others and this forum certainly helps us learn from others. Bill

Nic,
Tell me you used those new welding skills and built your own custom frame? Let me know if I can help with any thing

Hey man i feel ya on the cold. That is holding my 2nd build up too. Im spending my time fixing a lil shop on my land. I picked up a wood stove to heat the shop. I just cant wait to hang out in my shop next to my wood stove kinda like my old man would do. lol As soon as my lil shop is closed in ill be back at it. And hey my first build was NEVER done. lmao. I started it over 5 years ago. lol

Oh man i wish i could tell you i made my own frame. But i didnt. I got a HF trailer this time. My 3rd build im going to weld my own frame. Im gonna have to to get what i want out of it. I want the door to match the drop floor so ill have to drop one side of the frame down too. Just gives me something to dream about. ;)
And hey i forgot you lived just overin tulsa. Im in fort gibson these days. Ill have to come up and BS with ya one of these days. Maybe you will be the first to get a sneak peak at my new build. I gotta get those pix posted! Its hard when i dont have my own computer.
