First thing is done before camping

Postby Verna » Sat May 12, 2012 8:42 pm

My wonderful mechanic neighbor repacked the wheel bearings on the SideKick and on the Escape2 Little Guy TD :wine: I sure hope he lives next door for a long time, because I really don't want to do that by myself :worship:

I washed and waxed both yesterday--they look so clean and shiny

Tomorrow is cleaning out the inside of the SideKick. That will make me feel better.

While I can pack wheel bearings I can't clean the rain gutters I too have a great neighbor who does them for me
it is nice to be friendly and to have friendly neighbors.

First thing is done before camping

Hey, Pete, I'll take you for a neighbor any day!!! I can clean rain gutters, roto till gardens, cut grass, but I sure have a mental block when it comes to grease!!! I'm better now that I keep latex gloves around, but I sure can procrastinate about greasy things. But on the other hand, I always change the oil in the mowers every spring!!!

My neighbor the Harley Queen came over last night and helped me drink beer.

She male bashed and I nodded a lot.

As she left I offered her my phone number (again) and she sarcasticly cooed over her shoulder "I already have YOUR NUMBER!"

I don't think she was taking about my phone

Verna,

You LG should have "ez-lube hubs"......ours did. When you pop off the end cover on the chrome center hub caps there should be a rubber plug you can pop out of the end of the spindle and there will be a grease fitting. You can lube the hubs via that grease fitting with out tearing down the hubs. We did ours each year before camping season.

You may know this all aready!!!! 8)

E-zlube hubs are NOT a substitute for cleaning and repacking. They will in time over fill the hub with grease. On top of that you can't know the conditions of the bearings. Over greasing can be as much of a problem as not enough.

I would rather grease the wheel bearings than wash and wax the beast. And latex gloves...........those are for doctors when they are up to their arm pits in blood guts and gore.

Never said Ez-Lubes were a "Substitute" for repacking them on occasion, just wanted Verna to know she may have them, as that is what our LG had. We put well over 10K miles on ours in 5 years of towing it and simply lubed them each fall, never had any issues. YMMV! :D

Cheers, Verna.....and happy camping! 8)
