Mike, find a suitable group site and make a date. They will come. I would not limit it to people from only certain states. If people want to drive a greater distance they need to know they are welcome.

If you want to keep a gathering in WY, you might want to consider the Big Horn Mtn area. Beautiful area and lots to see and do.

Just a thought, but your regional gathering will probably prove to be a smaller affair. As a result, you may find that you don't need a group spot at all if you can just reserve a few adjacent spots. Even if everyone is not camped directly next to the group, two or three spots that are together can be used as the gathering host area for camp fire discussions. If you don't limit yourself to the group spots, your options open up quite a bit.

One of the events that I attend just picks a date, and everyone makes their own reservation for it. Thing is, you need the date at least 6 months in advance, so everyone knows when it's going to happen, can't be a last minute thing. Since most of the National Forest campgrounds have a 6 month booking window it works out well. 6 months prior, everyone jumps on the website and gets a spot. We have probably 65 people that made it this year. Of course there are going to be those that want to drop out due to emergencies, family stuff etc...but those spots typically get consumed by others wanting to go. You may not get the exact site you want all the time, have optional site numbers ready when registering, but overall, it works out and no one has to plunk down a load of cash to reserve it. Pick a great campground with plenty of sites, pre-sell the event in terms of site and activities, and people will attend. Set up a open group site on FB and get the word out about it once you find a locale. Doug

I dunno Slow... you keep implying that nothing's happening in the area but the Colorado group CT&TTC on Facebook seems very active. I haven't attended a gathering yet but they look like they all have a great time! Just cause a group doesn't cross post doesn't mean it's not happening.

I've just read through this whole thread and have not seen anything that I would considered to be aggravating in the responses. Mike, may I suggest that you look at the answers and take the positives from them.

But really Mike, there was certainly no offense intended on my part. I didn't write this earlier, but I was thinking you might get a decent response from the CO chapter because it is so active, not the other way.
