How many keep a log book of their travels?
What all information do you log?
Date
Mileage
Campground or GPS Coordinates if off grid
Fuel
What other info is good to log?
Highlights (backed up with photos when possible), and regrets.
There is a side road at Rocky Mountain NP that opens around 4 July, and I've missed driving on it both times I've been there.
We had to cut a camping trip to the area around Mesa Verde short a few years ago, and there are a dozen things around there we want to do someday.
Every region we go, we learn about local places we would like to explore and things we would like to do, but have run out of time, or the particular experience was closed while we were there.
With our logged "regrets", the next time we plan a trip through that area, we have a list of options to choose from.
Of course, one can also log good/bad places to eat, cell phone coverage at particular campsites, availability of gasoline, general cleanliness of campsites and picnic areas, quality of grocery stores, weather conditions, and the like.
