Hey

I like the methods mentioned already and being it's on the top surface, you might try using 5 or 20 min epoxy and thin it with alcohol and apply it into the hole, cover with good wax paper and then set some heavy flat object (Steal works good) on it until the epoxy hardens. Then sand the area and seal with your favorite product. Thinned epoxy will absorb into wood very well and is great for end grains. Old RC airplane stuff for fuel proofing engine bulkheads from the nitro used in glow fuel or gasoline/oil powered airplanes.

Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.
