What is the most common size edge moulding ?

Postby Classic Finn » Fri Feb 05, 2010 12:49 pm

I was wondering as to what is the normal size or width of corner or edge moulding you folks use?

Im still hunting for wider moulding than what I used on our tear but no luck as of yet.

I do have some however I dont think its as wide as what you use in the USA.

I used the insert moulding below. The picture isn't that good but the dimensions are 1 1/8" x 7/16".

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Mark, that's the stuff they had at the local RV supply, so for Heikki's sake I assume its pretty standard. It was $80 for a 20 ft. stick. Does that sound right? I thought it was a little high.

That's ~$5/ ft. there vs. $4/ft. at the local supply. Similarly priced. Hmmm...I'm constantly getting bombarded by our metal suppliers that tell me setting up a special extrusion die for even a short-run is "very economical" and "much cheaper than I'd think". Maybe I'll put them to the test next week!

Nice find Heikki

I used the same sort of trim on our first build, It works great for fitting the side tent when you stitch a bit of awning piping along the edge of the tent.
I've been looking all over for it and can't find a supplier over here.
I thought it seemed a little narrow for the hatch.

This is the stuff I was after, Any chance of a link to a supplier ?

Image

AS it happens , I've probably got enough trim (slightly diferent) to do my current project, but would love to know where to get some more from.

Dave Im having a bad time in finding anything to fit on the hatch. Just too narrow. Thats where the shrinker stretcher may need to come in. Or make a bending tool out of ply to the radius of the hatch. The stuff I show in the photo is just to short for the hatch. But as you say that tent awning or profile is excellent to use.

Also I did call to Holland, a place named Caralu. Website - www.caralu.nl They have aluminum profile and it seems wide enough for the hatch but Im still waiting for some info. My dutch isnt too good.  Just kidding the site is also in Engleis.

Here are some moulding that may be good.

http://www.caralu.nl/index.php/cPath/183_188

This outfit sells the Fan tastic Fan also.. just for your info. A good product with a great warranty. Ive got one here in Reindeerland. Even though mine came from the USA. :) Cheaper.

This is like detective work, hunt n search n call. :?

Dave I know where to get that here in Finland. I also have a German website for you. Let me look it up. As well as a Swedish outifit.

Here is the company name Reimo.
http://reimo.com Reimo is a German Company.

Visit also the websites of Reimo dealers in the UK
Concept Multi-Car
Wellhouse Leisure
Camper conversions

This site is in many languages.

http://reimo.com/fin/D-tarvikkeet/DC-va ... utoihin/24

Majority of the moulding is only 20mm x 11mm kind of short or narrow.
As what I have. :?

I can definitely check. Houston has everything...!

The area around the ship-channel may not yield too many results, it is a huge industrial area. You may have to go a few miles away. I'll find out tomorrow!
