Okay I need help now

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Hi Pam, I put 2 of my horizontal ribs in to hold the walls in place while I cut the rest of them. After I installed all of the horizontals I went back and installed the verticals in my walls. It was still flimsy but putting the roof and front walls on took care of that. I do know that once the bulkhead and cabinets are in the whole thing becomes solid.

Were your walls 90 degrees already before you put in your temp spars? Or adding the wall rib attaching to the roof spar make it square?

I think you will probably get several different methods as a response. Personally, I installed the vertical wall for my galley area to get my walls square.

No, the walls wanted to fall down. I attached one wall, then braced it and attached the other wall and put two spars up, one in front and one in where the galley hatch attaches and went from there. Just got to make sure you brace the wall while putting in the spars. If not you'll cause some major damage if you let them fall.

Okay, now I "got it", sometimes I really have to think through things before I can understand them.

Thanks so much for your insights, and trust me without all the individual explanations, I probably would have still been saying HUH????

See my posts under build journal in a couple weeks for my progress, you will see what your pointers have done for me.

Your welcome Pam. I have pictures of my build in my gallery album, as do many others on here, if pictures work better for you, they do for me. Tons of experience on this site so, keep asking questions and good luck with your build.

My galley wall was my guide to square the build. I put it in immediatly after 1st wall was stood. This was the only way I could guarantee both walls would be 90 degrees to the floor and parallel with each other.

Rear was solid the minute both walls were installed without spars. I installed a couple spars and the front had a wiggle so I framed the nose cabinet next to reinforce the front. Then after making sure my front and rear measurements were the same I cut and installed the missing spars 12" on center.

If you look close in this pic you will see 2 cross spars that are not rabbeted into the sides these were installed simply to stiffen and square the front so the spars could be installed square and even. The panel you see became the back wall of a nose storage cabinet. It is a bit shallower at the top than the bottom but has served us very well.
