While I don't know much about Teardrops yet, I do know about balancing trailers, and I think your best bet is to build a rack of some sort on the tongue so the weight is suspended between the axle and the tow vehicle.
Five hundred pounds cantilevered out behind you won't tow well, and might give you negative tongue weight.
Good luck, though. Scooters are great additions to camping in general (so much so, I'm building my tear to pull behind my MC).
If I were doing it, I'd build it with just a piece of four inch channel with a hinge on the end across the tongue, another short piece on the hinge for a ramp, and a couple ears on the front and back ends for the strap. If you were clever you could put it right behind the propane tank.
