Let's see. That would be 100 mph divided by...carry the...hmmm. :? :surrender:

Andrew, I'll take your word for it. :D

Is that the Aggie way of calculating?

HELLO........ all the math.... I have a headache...... I just wanted to know if I stay with my wheels under idea
with 8" wheels/tires will, I have a massive failure tire bearing or otherwise. The general view appears to be if I
use good high speed grease and repack every season and find some good quality highway speed rated tires, I should be good to go. Right?
I just don't want to make a massave mistake. Thanks for all the feed back.

Nobody wrote: My younger son has a NAPA parts store & tells me that over 90% of on-the-road bearing/axle failures he sees can be traced to extreme overloads and/or poor/no maintenance of the 'rolling' components, regardless of wheel/hub/bearing size.

I learned that the hard way ... but before I owned a teardrop ... I owned (still do) a 4 x 8 ft "utility" trailer (from Northern Tool not Habor Freight) for years ... but was not very good on greasing the bearings. In the end one day while towing it home I started to hear a squealing / screaching coming from the rear. I was only about 15 miles from home and not on the highway so I kept driving. I got home but .... the next time I tried to move the trailer I found that the wheels were WELDED to the axel :-(

That experience has made me be sure to grease my bearings on my teardrop at least once a year (don't take it out that often, nor for long trips)

I burned out my fiirst set of tires with about 2500 miles on them this last weekend. I blew one out and had to replacement it...was able to drive home on the other one but it need s a replacement. I was running 12x4.8 weight range c. I need to see if I can squeeze 13's in there if not the 12x5.3's just for a wide higher weight tire. Guy at work said I shouldn't have been driving like 70mph plus when its 100'outside...speed and road temp. Could that be why I wore through them? Sadly I need to upgrade to 5 bolt hubs too...sigh
