Roughed out the door this afternoon. I'm hoping to have it installed today, and I want to get the bottom area of the camper painted.

Weather is wonderful in Houston today. I wish I was camping instead of building.

I'll get the outside trim installed on the camper after another coat of paint.

Hung the door. I sure don't miss those rounded doors. ;)

I'll pull it back off tomorrow and start epoxying it and getting it ready for paint.

Speaking of paint...

Last pics from the weekend. I have to epoxy the bumper, epoxy/fill the very back/bottom of the camper and that should just about do it for epoxy work on the outside. First trip should be this weekend unless something (work/school/etc.) blows up.

I got the middle black stripe put on today. Matches the tow vehicle nicely - not intentional either. Maybe I just gravitate towards black/white paint?

Image

I was going to paint the stripe grey, now I'm kinda stuck with which color to try. I'm leaning towards blue strakes, not really sure why. Red looks a little too Nascar, grey looks too bland now, and green looks too playful. I dunno. I'll probably change my mind 100 times before I paint it. Besides, those little strakes aren't a lot of paint. :)

Image

Then again, I could make some little face plates so I could "pop" whatever color I'm feeling like on for that weekend. Ok, maybe not.

The wide band should be the contrasting color with thinner bands black. That would tie in the black edge trim you have covering the top edge.

Making good progess.

Not much camper work lately - I've had a lovely virus. :(

I did manage to get the door painted, bumper sealed with epoxy (seen below the camper), and the first trim piece glued on. I need to pick up a door handle & electrical inlet cover from an RV shop this weekend. I'm also going to get some blue paint and repaint the stripe, and I'll paint the strakes black. It looks like I should have it ready to roll by the end of the weekend. I've got my first camping trip planned this Monday. :)

Lumber/Hardware 244.83
Epoxy/Fiberglass 131.88

Trim/Brushes 45.50

Total 870.31

I spent a little more than I wanted on my last trip to HD/Lowes, but I'm still on budget.

Steve, you may have indicated this before and I missed it. Where did you get the black trim you used on the outside? I've been trying to think how to protect the joint between the side walls and roof, and the trim seems to be the solution. Thanks in advance.

It's a garage door seal purchased from Lowes. It runs about $15 for 16 feet. Lowes has the nice foam rubber seal, Home Depot has a flat, thin seal.

I used construction adhesive to attach it and sealed the edges with clear silicone sealant.

Since you used the cloth and epoxy, is the seal even necessary or is it just for looks ?

Mostly for looks. I guess it's extra protection too. I'm paranoid about leaks - even my door will be double sealed. (Outside aluminum seal, and interior jamb seal.) :)

It is looking real cool. I wanted to play a hunch. Could we see what it looks like with the color "Tan" for your accent strip?
