Kreg Pocket Hole Jigs

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

I have one and I've used it with the cordless and corded drills, it works with both. What I've found to be much more important is to clamp the material when you're driving the screws, otherwise it splits. And I mean clamp. I use a clamp to hold the material down to the bench and a clamp to pull the two ends together. Whats really nice is to be able to dry fit everything before you glue it. I make lots of mistakes and this helps me catch a few of them before I glue everything. :R

I've found that I have to be careful with the clutch setting, when joining hardwoods, to keep from twisting the head off the screws. You need to clamp each joint really well to keep them from creeping as the screws tighten. I've yet to split anything. The best thing about the tool is you get to assemble the piece, install it and play with it awhile before comitting yourself to glue

I didn't know that Lowes had the Kreig jigs until I went there looking for the square drive screws. I went to Woodcraft to get a pocket hole jig. They didn't have the bare bones model that I was looking for only the super deluxe ones. I ended up getting one from Simp'l Products works the same, and I have found the same things as the others. Clamp the piece in tightly and drill at high speed.
