Paul said: I hate all of you with garages/workshops!

I AGREE WITH PAUL!!! :(

I get to move my wife's car out of the carport for a week to build my chassis. My "workshop" is a 3-parter. About half of the screened back porch (12' x 12' section) is where most of my tools are (bench band saw, drill press, planer/jointer, router table, hand-tools, workbench, shelving units). My table saw shares the covered, but unscreened end of the porch (9' x 12') with my air compressor, the house AC compressor and gas grill, and that's also where I set up my chop saws on a home-made folding table.

Last, I have a 10' x 20' portable garage (steel pole frame covered with a tarp that extends down to within 2' of the ground on the sides) where I do my cabin construction. I tie some smaller tarps over the ends to keep rain out. My bass boat resides there when I'm not building something. When I have a large project going on, I put a boat cover on it and it sits in my side driveway.

Will I ever have a REAL workshop? Probably not. But, this is Florida and I don't have too many days that are too cold to work outside. The summer heat does keep me inside some days though. That's why I prefer to plan my building projects from mid-fall to early summer.
Dale

Sometimes I pretend to be normal. But, that gets boring...so I go back to being me.

I don't want to make you all jealous. But my workshop where the assembly will be done is about 50 by 25 with central air and heat, carpet, chandeliers and 14 foot ceilings. The wood working will be done in the basement which is the same size with 12 foot ceilings. I would post a picture if I had a camera.

Very narrow 2 car garage here. The teardrop took up one side while the work table took up the other. Both cars stayed outside.

Now the tear is in storage and the table dismantled. This will be the first winter in 3 years that Cindi will be able to park inside.

I am of a mind that like a clean desk, a clean and neat shop is a sign of a sick mind, or some one that is not busy.

Seriously I tend to make a real mess and half of my garage is taken up with a 1972 Saab Sonett up on jack stands and its parts.

Missed this thread last year?? My primary workshop is a 10'X40' lean-to on a large storage shed behind our son's house. The old detached 1-car garage contains most of our tools but doesn't have room to work in so construction projects of any size are accomplished either on the driveway in front of the garage or in the gravel floored lean-to. After initial assembly of the HF trailer most all work moved to the shed other than ripping of spars, frame members, etc., on the old 1969 Craftsman radial arm saw -

This thing has cut more wood than I like to think about
Image

Image

The miter saw & a small 110v air compressor comprise the main tools in the 'shed shop'
Image

Note the 'hi-tech' weights used to assist the clamps while glue dries
Image

Most work is done 'outside' unless it's raining or super hot; & everything gets 'tarped' in bad weather
Image

If I had a large, well equipped shop I'd just hafta clutter it up or I wouldn't feel at home ;)

I'll never get tired of posting that picture.

Your TV has no hitch! I'm surprised no one commented on the make. I think you intended to show the vehicle more than your garage. Show off!

Cheers,

Gus
