oops !

Yep, me too

My 60" by 114" TD cabin was built on an HF 4x8' trailer (I did modify the tongue). My floor/base was built of ripped 2x4 with 1x6 side rails. Have had absolutely no flex or 'give' in any of the overhang & it pretty well survived a rear end collision that really mangled my little 'decorative' bumper. Construction pix from start to finish+ in my album -

frame floored & undercoated before insulating

base/floor ready to start cabin construction - note the 'wheel wells' intrude only about 1 1/2" vertically into the cabin

used it like this for first 6mos

want fenders, build yer own when ya can't find what ya need

bumper? tongue box? all on the original 4x8 HF trailer

Doing the right thing ain't always easy but, . . . it's always right!

just remember, height is drag, unless you are towing with a tall vehicle, you want your TD no taller than the car to save on gas. I have fenders on my 5' wide on a 4' trailer and wheel wells in the TD. check my WWW, if I wanted I could still put fancy traditional looking fenders if I wanted to, (I happen to like the original carry-on fenders)
I now wish I made my TD a little bit shorter by having steel welded onto the outside of the 4' frame to make a 5' deck instead of using the 2x4's the way I did, my TD would be at least 2" shorter if I had. Not a problem with the grand caravan or my old ranger, but it is almost 5" taller than my focus.
