Hey, daddio…was reading your thread and noticed that you were looking for an affordable fantastic fan roof vent. I got the idea from others on this site of using a 12v 10” fan ($13 from Wal-Mart) suspended below a plain roof vent and it works great. $45 total in my case and the fan has the versatility to be used in a myriad of other functions.

And then what would be used to seal/trim the seams on the exterior?

Thanks !

....I looked high/low trying to find something for that and finally found the solution....stair tread nosing.....its available in steel/ brass /aluminium and vinyl....3 quesses which I'll be using?...and the first 2 don't count..Lowes carries a brand called Flexco it comes in 4' ,8' lengths...another possibility is vinyl wall edge molding ...it comes in a roll 50 ft long by 4 in wide by 1/8 thick, very flexible ...I bought a couple strips of that and am going to try it out as a substitute for the plastic piano hinge that still hasn't made it here yet and we're leaving on our "maiden voyage" tomorrow...

...actually we're going to the annual family re-union...most folk (like me) live outa state from our roots in West Va.... figure something like 50-75 folk will show up ...the original homestead only has 6 bedrooms ,plus 3 other family members living close by ...so bed space goes fast ....this time we're bringing our own bed  ;)

...872 miles later ....we made it back in one piece , :vroom: ..the maiden voyage of the "PVCTTT" was successful .No major problems to deal with >We did have one minor problem with splitting/cracking of the PVC sheets at appx 760 miles .Most of our miles were high speed interstate with loads of vibration and wind getting behind/under the sheets causing a billowing effect....I strongly suspect this "billowing" in combination with the shock of bumps and other road vibrations contributed to the edge cracks adjacent to a couple of the rivets .A few more rivets plus the application od edge molding to the front only for now hopefully solved that little problem .....I'm beginning to understand what "teardrop time" means now ... had we not be in such a rush(limited time/long distance) this problem probably never would have been an issue.

Congrats on your first campable trip.... hopefully the cracking problem won't happen when you get insulation, interior skins on and create a "sandwich" wall...

You still have me dreaming and scheming of possibly building a little bit larger trailer for me and my stuff !
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

....I think the biggest issue will be getting the moulding installed over the exterior joints.Had they been installed prior to our trip, the billowing problem we had wouldn't have been an issue at all. That problem will be addressed today after work...we're going on another outing next weekend ....I really do't want to spend my driving time worrying about the sheets coming off...

:applause:  You made it! Are your sides riveted to each framing piece? Is there a such thing as a pvc rivet? Sure hope it gets worked out. It is sounding like this is going to be comparable to a woodie when done.

Good luck!

...i don't know about PVC rivets ..mine are all aluminium and holding quite well...as far as the woodie comparison ...I dunno about that ,other than it being the same size/ shape etc :R ...oh yeah we looked and looked for an appropriate sized mattress with no luck ....in desperation we threw in a couple 6 " foamy folding chair/beds we had, to have something to sleep on ...turns out placed side by side they fit perfectly...so we've decided to leave em' in there ...lol...one less than to buy...

 Glad you found something for a bed. You can get foam cut to order at Knox foam. Google it. Also Walmart has wonderful foam mattresses just cut to size. 8)

 Have a really good trip.

Question for you. Where do you get 90* with side out that are all the same size? I looked at the big box stores and only found the side outs smaller than the 90*. Trying to make a garage for my TD on the cheap and easy.
