Newbie with a couple of ????'s

Hello all, newbie here from missouri
I have gotten the generic benroy plans and have been going over them for about three weeks now, I have bought a HF 4 x 8 trailer and gotten it bolted together and ready to go,, but before i buy the wood and start building i need to know what fittings, trim, gaskets and other stuff to buy first, is there a "must have" BEFORE i start the build like door trim or molding??
Where can i find windows and slider screens for a 3/4 wall thickness??or can i make them?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for 110 volt only trailer?? i dont want to put 12 volt in at all. I saw one that used a GFCI for a breaker and it looked like it would work. Any ideas on that?
I know from visiting this forum for hours on end that the answers are here cause there are alot of talented people in here.

That sounds great but i might be back on the road in march and i only get 10 - 12 days off every 6 weeks.
Well today i got the floor done and bolted on and both walls cut out and ready for final sanding. All in 6 hours and two trips to the lowes and home depot.
I have the cabinets, shelves really, laid out and the spar locations all laid out but the back galley walls dont look right so i will have to modify them.

Keith you need to dig out the camera. Can you explain what doesn't look right about the back walls?

See if you have a picture then we can get that bubble oil level in a hurry.

You can also check out the salvage yards. They can be a boon for someone on the look.

...most trim and gaskets can be had from the local hardware store, RV repair place of trailer supply house(NAPA has much you can use)

...hardware and fittings can be had from www.austinhardware.com/ , FASTENAL or one of the TD parts suplliers...

...radiused corner "slider" windows can be had (cheapest) from RedNeckTrailerSupply...if you can't find an oputlet for them, try http://www.tjtrailers.com/store/ ...they can also be had from Grant at Lil Bear( http://teardrops.net/tdparts.html )

...you can't use a GFIC extension cord for a breaker...you can only use it for a GFIC, you can get a similar unit for the breakers...personally, I wouldn't wire it only for 120vac...it will hurt any furture resale value and limit your options...if I only went with one, it would be a 12vdc system...much more versatile...one of my favorite places for electrical oddities is www.waytekwire.com .....

If you need some aluminum trim for your countertop(inside corner trim and edging), I have some extra still new in the package.

If you want to get an idea of what gaskets to buy, come take a look at our tear. Most can be found at your local hardware store. Hardware can be found at austinhardware.com and you can pick it up at their Lee's Summit location. I bought most of my items from Grant at Lil'Bear and was VERY happy with my purchases and reasonable shipping prices.

Hi...Glad to hear you are getting going on your project!!
I used the same trailer and did 3/4" plywood walls too. Before you order windows check with some of your local aluminum recyclers. Many times they are scrapping toppers/campers/etc...that's where my windows came from. Very inexpensive that way.
Also, I found a lot of parts & supplies at the local home improvement store. Take an afternoon and just wander around all the departments of the store, it's amazing how many things you will find that can be used on your TD...saves tons of money over specialty items like fastners, latches and mouldings.
On my TD the drip rail moldings over the doors is a plastic molding that is used on suspended ceilings...I think it cost $3 and I got the two drip moldings out of it...bent it with my heat gun and gave it a shot of aluminum paint!

Thaks everybody, now i have more options
Today i cut out the doors and made brackets to mount the walls and got the final sanding done along the outside edge. I would have gotten more done but i didnt start until 2:30 pm.
Tomorrow i am going to cut out for the hatch and paint the interior and hopefully stand the walls in place and hop to leave them up for good cause i took them down twice already
I will start an album tonight after supper so you can see how its going.

Thanks, i cant do any work today, supposed to get three inches of rain and turn to snow late and tomorrow.
I went back over the plans last night and almost skipped the galley step!! I probly could go back to it but the galley will help square the walls and save me that headache so i'll cut that and go in order.
I know madjack said it would be best to go with 12 volt only, but i dont do any rustic camping where there is no power so im going with 110 volt. I even have a plug in where i go deer hunting so the comforts of home arent very far

you can always use battery pop on lights in the event you go boondocking. (it's really one word) Missouri has lots of wonderful---free or nearly free camping.

klattin3 , just a thought , do you know how thick a mattress you will be using? The reason i ask is the bottom of your door looks a little high. When you sit up in the doorway , if you mattress is not high enough , your legs will be pinched . It can be very uncomfortable when getting in or out, & sitting. It seems the norm is the mattress is twice as high as the bottom of the doorway. You may have it covered but thought I would ask. It could save a HUGE headache later. Good luck on your build!!
