Question about filler

Postby Southern1212 » Sat Nov 21, 2009 6:57 pm

We are about to the point of being ready to fill the screw holes that were made in the attaching of the roof of our TD build . . . but are extremely unsure as to what to use. Would simple exterior wood filler work?? As we plan to paint our TD.

Thanks!

If it itches. scratch it

Bondo's good. Cheap too. Wal-Mart even has it in the auto section...

If you are going to paint, you can use wood filler. Like the other posters, I used Bondo. It is easy to work into holes, and sands off smooth.

The only difficulty I have had with Bondo is that it sets up too fast in Texas summer temperatures. But, any other time, it works fine.

Casey; put it in the fridge for a few hours; it will slow down the reaction once mixed

If you are trying to stain after the fact Minwax makes a furniture scratch repair marker. It is very much like any magic marker you have ever used but it is in 8-10 shades of wood. I was in the furniture business and you won't believe what you can repair from in store accidents.

Hey that's a good idea! I picked up some wood putty today. It says ints indoor outdoor and all that but said nothing about being able to paint or stain. But i bet your trick would work!
