Suggestions for a DVD/tv/radio combo?

Postby ioan » Mon Feb 27, 2012 12:52 pm

I want to put a dvd/tv/radio combo in the teardrop I'm building, any advice on what to get?

There is this one:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6 ... layer.html
But I'm pretty sure this is not build for vibrations and I'm afraid it won't last long.

I searched on some "direct from China" websites and I saw this one:
http://www.meritline.com/7-inch-digital ... 73951.aspx
(or any other options from that website)

And on ebay this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-9-5-PORTABL ... 512wt_1396

What are the things I should think about when choosing a entertainment system for the teardrop?

Some of the links you provided have some promising stuff. If you have a laptop it should supply most of these things on a bigger screen. And with hulu and other places with wifi you could get some TV stuff. That's what we do.
Conform and be dull.

That's a good idea too. But I would like to have something built-in.

DO NOT USE open wifi without permission. That being said, here is a rig you may want to look into:
http://www.i-hacked.com/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=42

Basically, it scans for an open wifi, if it finds one, tests the internet and makes it available to you locally. WIth the yagi antenna, you can get into a wifi from a mile away (or more... if there are no obstacles).

"The predator is a modified wireless router connected to a high-powered antenna and running custom firmware to actively seek out open wireless connections. Once they are found, it will test them for internet connectivity and then join and repeat the one with the strongest signal to secured wireless connection that YOU control."

Plus one on the laptop. I bought a TV/DVD combo, and I'm sorry I wasted the money. My laptop does a much better job at DVD's with a bigger screen. Actually, I only used the TV once anyway, so could have done away with it entirely.

Just get a 19" vizio tv from walmart and mount it to your wall and anything hdmi can hook to it and provide all the entertainment you would want.

I would recommend looking at media players that will play avi mkv and mp4 files and hook to the tv hdmi. Look at the patriot box office product which is relatively cheap and runs off of dc power and with firmware flashes can play just about anything thrown at it and small enough to just use it home or in the camper. Then you just carry flash drives or an external drive with massive amounts of movies/tv shows on it and not worry about keeping up with discs.
