I got the go- ahead!!!

Postby jeporter25 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 10:33 am

Hey all,
After a year of lurking on this site I have finally gotten over the first hurdle.. the wife is on board :D. my plan is to build a 5x9 on a northern tool frame. I am in the process of sourcing things for the build. I plan to get most of the hardware and trim from Grant. The profile will be a slightly stretched superleggara. My plan is to do an insulated sandwitch for the walls with a poplar frame. I love woodworking but hate finish work so I plan to do the inner skins with pre-finished maple ply and the exterior with marine ply and aluminum. I am looking for a source for hinges like Dave used on the Atma. Any help in that area would be ...helpful.
step one...clean the garage
thanks all

Welcome aboard. It is always a good sign when we can wear the wife down. It usually goes the other way. Have fun with your build, it's a big step. Once done and you are out camping you will wish you had started years ago.

My wife thought I was crazy until she sat in a little guy trailer. Then she could understand what I was wanting to do and got on board also. Good luck with your build. I know I have had fun building mine.
