Sorry, I couldn't resist. Sorry Dean.

Actually, I PM'ed Dean today and told him I understood the demands of a father and business owner. That dude is busy. Plus you were thinking it too. You just didn't say it.

Thanks All,
The event was great!
I've never seen so many tuxedos in my life.
No I wasn't in one, but I did put on my cowboy boots, slacks and a nice silk shirt that Joanie bought for me. I wanted to just go get a new pair of Carharts and call it good, but TDN said no... She's a pretty smart lady.
The webiste photos are about a year old now and they don't allow pics at performances, but I'm going in next week to change out a piece of tempered glass that came to me scratched and I'll be taking pics of my own to share.
Kenny Rogers was way way better than I had ever anticipated!!!
Just before his performance, the owner, general contractor and the mayor were on stage, sharing their thoughts and giving thanks at which time a pidgeon, somehow made it in without a ticket, flew out from the stage and rightfully took his roost back, high up amoungst the loft nearby.
(Pidgeons had overtaken the theater for many years as it sat in disrepair, prior to the restoration)
My first phase of the project, was to install the exterior storefront and windows two years ago and once that was done, they had a hellava time getting and keeping those birds out. It wasn't until about two months ago, that the place seemed to finally be pidgeon free.
All in all, the project was very gratifying to me because we brought back a jewell in this town and made it shine real good... the finished project will be there for generations to come to enjoy.
Oh Yaa... I got my name and company listed as being on the restoration team in the special commemorative booklet for the grand opening... That was a cool surprise!
We got to take home special etched wine glasses from the event too, even though neither one of us drink alcohol.

Jim,
Finishing the teardrop will be way different... 'cause I'll get to hang on to it, use it and not walk away from it.

BTW Jim,
I'll be hooking up with Mr. Hodder soon, during a run down south to pick up a load of stained glass.
Gonna have him pick up some of that 103" wide aluminum for my roof.

Thank You Jim,
My crafty little ruse has now been exposed.
Oh well... No biggie.
I just gave credit to a famous race car driver that was also born in the same year instead, that's all.

Now Auntie M,
I still wanna see a thread for Jimmy.

Hey...
Even famous race car drivers deserve a birthday wish.

OK Auntie M,
Here's a shot of Kenny from last night's performance, holding roses from adoring fans.

BTW- There were a pair of sisters there that came all the way from Georgia. I guess they go to all his concerts and give him roses. Last night was their 977th time!

A job well done

8) Yes, at long last this piece of history has been reinvented and so grandly. After two years of some really long days, and quite a few very late nights (dinners in the evenings using a flashlight at times) it was thrilling to see the completed project. I remember the first time I squeezed through the plywood openings to see the place where he'd be working. I used to go to the theater as a kid, but it had been closed for years. When I first saw what a disaster it had become I was sure it would take decades to fix it. And those pigeons haunted Dean for weeks when he was working in the cold, dark days before most of the start-up crew began.

Dean and I had a FABulous time there. I love to get all gussied up every now and then, and go out for an airing. The Friday night grand opening was sold out...and both Dean & I being lifetime locals got to see so many people we knew. I bought the tickets for his early birthday present, and because I support the local arts. I had asked him to get some more of his business cards printed up and have on hand to give out just in case, cuz you never know when that connection might come up.

Well, lo and behold, we were sitting next to a guy who owns one of the biggest vehicle dealerships in the area, and good woman that I am, mentioned that he'd done the glasswork and his lady asked if me if Dean did just commercial work, and I said No, he also does residential, and gave her one of his cards so he could hook up to do his house. How about that...mixing business and pleasure?? It also turns out that Dean had worked for the guy when he was in high school (so many years ago) washing the vans that came in on weekends. So we got "reaquainted".

The downtown area has an Arts Alive! festival each first Saturday so the Arkley's opened this venue up for the general public to see. Last night we took the kids, and met up with Kevin and his Pop, and two other friends to give them a walkabout. They had a short show with the local high school singers and big band, but the place was still packed with gawkers.

Didn't get any pictures (no photos rule) but the ones I have in my head are priceless. Dean will have to get some to add to his website portfolio. Also,
(to Jim) that addendum to the bottom of your first post did make me chuckle, but Dean wasn't around to hear it, so it doesn't count. You folks still like us anyway, right?? Yes, I'm a teardrop groupie, and proud of it.

  TDN
