Thanks All,
The event was great!
I've never seen so many tuxedos in my life.
No I wasn't in one, but I did put on my cowboy boots, slacks and a nice silk shirt that Joanie bought for me. I wanted to just go get a new pair of Carharts and call it good, but TDN said no... She's a pretty smart lady.
The webiste photos are about a year old now and they don't allow pics at performances, but I'm going in next week to change out a piece of tempered glass that came to me scratched and I'll be taking pics of my own to share.
Kenny Rogers was way way better than I had ever anticipated!!!
Just before his performance, the owner, general contractor and the mayor were on stage, sharing their thoughts and giving thanks at which time a pidgeon, somehow made it in without a ticket, flew out from the stage and rightfully took his roost back, high up amoungst the loft nearby.
(Pidgeons had overtaken the theater for many years as it sat in disrepair, prior to the restoration)
My first phase of the project, was to install the exterior storefront and windows two years ago and once that was done, they had a hellava time getting and keeping those birds out. It wasn't until about two months ago, that the place seemed to finally be pidgeon free.
All in all, the project was very gratifying to me because we brought back a jewell in this town and made it shine real good... the finished project will be there for generations to come to enjoy.
Oh Yaa... I got my name and company listed as being on the restoration team in the special commemorative booklet for the grand opening... That was a cool surprise!
We got to take home special etched wine glasses from the event too, even though neither one of us drink alcohol.
Jim,
Finishing the teardrop will be way different... 'cause I'll get to hang on to it, use it and not walk away from it.
