Oklahoma Ice Storm 2010

Postby Rickxr2 » Sat Jan 30, 2010 9:38 pm

Well, another Oklahoma ice storm to put in the books. Luckily we didn't get the wind so I expect that saved the power lines from snapping. 1/2 inch of ice then 6 inches of snow. Here are a few pics. Hopefully everyone else made it through the strom okay.

Ice covered everything,

We did a little bird watching,

Watched the deer walk through the back yard,

Then decided to do a little fishing.

All in all, it was a pretty good day!

It stopped about 60 miles north of me. It's bitter cold here, but no ice.

I did major pruning on my trees this year, which is probably why we haven't had an ice storm. They only hit me when I'm not prepared.

lost about 1/3 of one of the live oaks in the front yard.

about 11:45 last night the igniter in the house furnace gave up the ghost, too.

don't know what the snow total was, but the ice tore up trees all over Texas Tech and Lubbock as well as the general area.

rotten time to be moving kids, snow and ice; done it twice this year -- youngest to KY over New Year's weekend, eldest between apartments this week.

Supposed to have three warm days then rain. Hope that doesn't freeze too.

Laredo, hope you got your furnace fixed. Be careful moving and don't slip on any ice, and don't walk under any trees.

Miriam, yes the rod tip is bent, about the fourth cast I caught a small bass. Went to the house after that, the fishing reel was messing up.

Doctor, maybe you should consider turning the trampoline over in the wintertime! Looks like itmight get strechted out a bit like that.

BTW: I am glad that we are having a fairly low snow winter here (so far).

Stunning picture! Had the light been just that much more perfect I daresay this'd be an award-winning photograph... (there's always photoshop, I guess... what camera and lens did you use?)

Had you had trouble in the region two weeks ago with that first storm? We haven't heard from one of our fellow T&TTT members living in Duncan, OK for quite some time now. We've tried calling...

Linda, you did good. I loved the deer and the cardinal especially. I know it has been rough on a lot of people but it sure is beautiful.

I feel your pain.

Postby Dragonryder » Tue Feb 02, 2010 8:46 am

I feel your pain. We have been in a deep freeze here in Ohio for what feels like quite some time. Oh well, I keep telling myself, it's February so camping can't be too far off. Now if that ground hog will just co-operate. I always look forward to February. I guess I figure that it is a short month and March is right around the corner. Which usually means that we can start looking forward to some warmer days. Last year, March was not a very good month. Very cold and rainy. Of course most of the summer was rainy and cooler. Here's hoping for better weather soon for all of us? :worship:
Have a great day and hoping the weather is great no matter where you are!!!

Signed, Me
