Trailer Dolly

I want to pass along something I do to ease trailer moving... I usually attach a piece of 1/2" dia. rope about 6' long to the trailer tongue to move the trailer around (pulling). I have a wheel jack and usually am on solid ground/concrete/asphalt.... It saves my back.

While some have a real need for a dolly, to me it would just be another $$ item taking up valuable garage space and seldom used. Yes, they are nice, and it would be a bit easier with bigger wheels, but my way works for me. And in defense of a dolly, it does give better directional control. But, I have enough space so that isn't a problem.

Arne--
Most of the hand moving I do with my TD is backing up a driveway between the fence and gas meter. I usually have a few inches on one side and a few inches on the other. I have found that pushing the TD with a rope does not always provide positive results. :?

In the spring I roll it forward. A rope would be very helpful until the trailer passes that point of no return rolling down the driveway.

The one thing that is very important for me in these cases is a dry driveway and good shoes. I have tried it with a wet driveway and smooth-soled shoes and found the trailer escorting me down to the gutter!

Like you, space is a premium for me. Having said all that I just might try the rope thing whenever possible.
