I disagree.
If you pour bleach into the well before having it tested it defeats the purpose of the test. You need to find out if Coliform, or in your case Mike, Nitrates (& Heaven forbid, E-Coli) are present that could possibly be causing your physical illness. Some folks can build up a tolerance for Coliform Bacteria to a degree. I'm not saying if it is present (which it tends to be in some places, well design usually has impact on it, i.e.; dug or driven) that you should put in a chlorination system with reverse osmosis, alum injector, water softner, UV light, etc., but rather, the well should be bleach treated properly. (bleach treating is effective if done properly depending on your well type)
Just my opinion.

And NO, I'm not a salesman for any water treatment companies.
Okay, it's your right to disagree; but, I doubt you'll disagree with this: Slow doesn't seem to be sick all the time, which I would think he would be, if it were the water where he lives. Also, I would think that his parents or, at least, visitors would be getting sick and they don't seem to be. He and his parents have been drinking that water most, if not all, of their lives. But, what about the visitors? According to what Slow has said on this forum, he gets sickest after he has eaten somewhere
other than home. Also, one doesn't usually get insomnia or depression from the water but one can be affected by those maladies if one has a food intolerance and/or is stressed.
By the way, in the hills nearby, nearly everybody treats their water with bleach every spring; or, is advised to. My thought was that I am doubtful that it is the water and I don't want Slow or his parents' pockets emptied by some money-hungry well guy. You are just trying to help and I was trying to be nice about it, too. Enough said.
