Wow, she deserves to be punished, but by a court of law. Death threats? A bit extreme.
BTW, What was the cat doing outside by itself? Did it slip out the door accidentally, or was it left outside intentionally?
The story says the owners were "looking for it the next day." Huh? Next day?
If the cat was intentionally allowed to be outside unattended, they bear some responsibility, too, IMO.
