Danny,
That's one nice looking car!
So much more class than all the new styles.

It will make one sweet tow car. Have lots of fun with it.
Martha ;)

Thanks Martha, hopefully I won't have to do any major suspension modifications. I've found out the shocks in those old Chevy's are mounted to the trunk floor not the chassis. There are after market rear shock relocation kits to the chassis available for $60 that I may purchase to prevent trunk floor damage from the weight of the teardrop. :D Danny

Very nice car Danny. That will look great towing the teardrop.

FYI, this Sunday at the XXX Drive-in is the 55,56 & 57 car show.

Despite your perceived imperfections of your chevvy , still looks the bees knees from this side of the Pacific! I'd venture to say it's even gorgeous. Nice blue! My wife loves it already. Any idea of the color code/name?

Danny,

The hitch on my Chev was put on before I bought the car. It looks like a home built unit. It is so stout, that after looking at what it would take to remove it, I decided to leave it on. (lots of welding) Glad i did now with the TD.
Nice weather predicted for this weekend. Enjoy your ride. Is that a spec of dust on it that I see in the 3rd photo? lol

Okay Jack  I remember the first time we brought our teardrop to Spring Fling. You remarked that I was alright as I was not wiping it down from the trip. A guy on the Tri-Five Chevy forum has offered me his hitch that he took off his 55 Chevy for the price of shipping from Colorado.
The guy that restored it had put a hitch on it to pull his teardrop, imagine that .

The leaf springs carry the weight of the car and the trailer etc, the shocks just dampen the ride. you shouldnt need to add stuff to the upper shock mounts unless you are running an air shock or something with helper springs/coilovers taking some of the weight off the springs.. What you might see if you crawl up in there and look close you will see that the mounting locations are probably cracked. You might want to patch those up and add some more steel in there to correct that if it hasnt happened already...

Hotrod, no cracks in the shock mountings. Looks like one has been replaced recently. I may put in new leaf springs. What's there now is 5 on one side and 4 on the other :? . It should have 5 on each side. It sags on the lesser side and the rear end does a swagger on some freeway bridges at the approach hop. I want to correct that so I don't get the teardrop to react to that swagger. I plan on putting on shocks with outer springs like I did on my Blazer as it really helps the suspension & ride. :D Danny

Danny, that is one sharp looking ride. Gonna look great with one of your teardrops behind it. With the modern drivetrain it should hardly notice the weight of a tear even in the hills of the NW.

Since #3 is mid-build, are you going to add some matching detail and accent colors?
