Usually. If you are in a really big city, you might be able to find a doggie dentist...dunno. Probably, if you can throw money around......

A dog breeder friend once told us that she had never seen
any dog skeletons next to a full food bowl of dog food....

The usual thing I've heard about feeding dogs "human food" is
that it tends to make them overweight ... Wow, that seems
to affect people the same way !

Doing so does seem to cause them to beg more for it
whenever they see/smell you having some, though. Can
you say "Cheese" ? And just the crackle of opening up a
celophane bag has had the power to raise any of the dogs
we've had from even the soundest of sleeps - from even
two rooms away !

As long as you're satisfied the dog is getting the nutrition
it needs, the source shouldn't matter.

We use Dick Van Paten's Natural choice. Our Boston Terrier
has a flatulence problem [can you say "Stink Bomb !"], and
that has helped immensely in helping to control that. Of
course we still give her a small bite of something from our
meal when we're finished. It's such a small thing that gives
her so much pleasure. Dogs can give us so much pleasure
in their companionship, so there's no harm in giving them
a little pleasure from a bit of human food in return.

Cheers,

We have two dogs. My mutt and my wife's purebred poodle. Both seemed to have issues with store bought food, even though none of our previous dogs did. After watching one eat it and vomit it back up and the other barely want to eat it and have liquid poop, we decided to try something different. We now grind up boneless chicken thighs and carrots in a food processor and cook it with brown rice and peas in a rice cooker. First good thing is that my wife's dog will actually now eat. I had never before had a dog that would walk away from food. Problem solved. Second good thing is that they both are able to digest it well and have not ever gacked it up. I normally cook a big batch on the weekend and one midweek. Takes about 10 minutes to prepare and the rice cooker does the rest. We normally cook it while cooking our own dinner. My dogs are happy and healthy and I am happy not cleaning up vomit or dealing with diarrhea. I'm saving money on dog food since I'm not having to buy specialty, prescription dog food anymore. that's always a good thing...
