What pisses you off or what's different about life in 2006?

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I think the character you were refering to was "Mr. Pelacutis" :x

Len, you have a great memory! Yep, I remember the Ramones being on a lot, and I remember it was filmed in like almost a garage…and you could hear the trucks zooming by! It was originally on real early, but they kept making it later and later because it became a cult with teenagers, who got out of school later.

And those pictures hanging on the wall! People, not kids, would also send in nutty stuff, and Floyd would lie and simply tell the kiddies that it said something totally different.

Two more things--I HAVE OOGIE! He's a Pelham Puppet, and when I was on a cruise to Bermuda, I saw him and immediately bought him.

Also, did you know that Uncle Floyd is still around and active? There's a show on Sirius called the Wise Guys Show (once a week), hosted by Big Pussy of the Sopranos, and Floyd is one of the regulars. The show is HYSTERICAL, just abunch of Guidos shooting the breeze.

I knew that Floyd had a show somewhere called the Italian Hour But I didn't know about the Wise Guy Show.

Floyd is from a very musical family. His father as well as many Uncles were formal musicians and his 2 brothers Jimmy and "the other one"(name escapes me) are in the house band on Conan O'Brien with Max Weinberg of the "E" street band.

I have a Jimmy Vivino CD, Great Blues album.

I LOVE the title.

I miss... 'Soupy Sales', 'Captain Penny', 'Mr. Jing-a-Ling' and the afore mentioned; Sat. morning cartoons. All great kid stuff. But; what I remember the most are the Sunday 'Blue-Laws', when familys actually spent Sunday together; and when taking a trip was an adventure; on real roads, before the highways. Does anyone remember the '3C' in Ohio?

Ok Ira........another TV thingie.

Shows used to run for something like 35 weeks with "summer replacements"
shown every years.

Shows now run 13 weeks and you can never figure out what night of the week they are on because some "genius" at the network keeps moving the time and or night. Case in point was the show "Commander in Chief" which was critically acclaimed but was moved so often that they killed it off before the first season was over.

regarding p/c and people of color.... remember, white is a color, too.... something a lot tend to forget in their quest for special (not 'equal') treatment.

Does anyone remember Winky Dink? And in a similar vein:

Does anyone remember the poor man's color television that they actually sold:

A piece of multi-colored transparent plastic you would stick on your b&w TV?

It had green on the bottom (for grass), flesh tone in the middle (for people), and blue on top for the sky.

I swear this is true. I was telling this to a younger coworker and he thought I was making it up.

Winky Dink? Just barely. I grew up in the LA area where we had Sherriff John, who showed Colonel Bleep cartoons.

We never had one, but I do remember them. Ira's not making this up, Rick!

Rick, I know you're joking--but I never made anything up here.

All of this crazy crap DOES happen to me. I just have a certain way of telling the stories, that's all.

I'm also not making up the 10-pound remote control that you screwed to your television knob.

That's the one. I don't miss that crap in the least - in fact, I didn't like it the first time.

I miss early Warner Brothers cartoons. Quality animation, great music - how many kids my age were introduced to classical music via Bugs Bunny & Sylvester? Jokes that were actually intended for adults. They got it back for a while with the Animaniacs, but they're gone now too.

The Rocky and Bullwinkle show wasn't just a cartoon.

It was ART!
